Monster

You could hear the sound of shallow breathing coming closer,

You could feel fearful eyes watching your every move.

Drifting throw the weary forest you are aware of your surroundings

Spots of light shine throw tall trees guiding your way,

The shallow breathing gets louder the fearful eye look closer

Run, run as hard as you can, you will not be held captive!

You almost to the end, so focused on your running

You don’t see the tree root that reaches towards you

Grabbing your foot, it brings you down and holds on tight.

Fighting so hard, you break free. Getting to your feet

You run, you run fast!

Just a little bit further, almost there, almost out of reach

But almost isn’t good enough, you are held captive now

The shallow breathing isn’t so shallow anymore, it’s heaver,

The fearful eyes aren’t so fearful any more, its hunger you see,

Hunger that scares you, you’re screaming, but silently

You’re filled with rage, you were so close, but not close enough.

The monster has you, good luck!
