Forever Changed

Chapter 1: in the beggining

The sun shines brightly in the sky. A cool summer breeze blew through, sending Bailey's  hair flying in the wind. It was such a beautiful day, the sky a bright blue with clouds all around, you couldn't ask for a better day. she breathed in that beautiful Summer air, a mix of pine and flowers. She opened her eyes to stare in a beautiful field. She saw a big oak with a boy laying under it. He did not fall asleep. She walked over to the boy to find him sound asleep. She put down her pack and got next to him. He looked so peaceful, caught in a deep dream. Not for long though. She leaned in towards his ear.
"Eren," she whispered.
He turned to the side and waved her off.
She looked below and saw he was right on the edge of a hill. She  put her  hands on his shoulders and rolled him down the hill. She heard him wake up screaming as he rolled down, so she followed him rolling down it it too. When she  finished, She landed on top of him. He stared at her with fury in his eyes.
"Damnit Bailey!" He said
"Rise and Shine sleepyhead," Bailey said.
"Bailey why'd you do that?!"
"We are supposed to be doing our chores remember, not lie around here doing nothing."
"Yeah but it'd sure be nice, but why did you pull the hill trick?"
"How many times have you done it to me?"
"Point taken."
He looked deep into her eyes. He suddenly threw her off of him onto the ground. They  both laughed. It's always been this way, since we were 5. Best friends. They both sat up and looked at each other.
"What were you dreaming about?" Bailey  asked.
"It was weird," he said. "I don't remember what it was. What was it?"
"If you don't remember it it must not be important."
"Your probably right. We should get back to town, your moms going to be mad at us for being late."

Bailey and Eren both walked through town with their packs on their  backs filled with wood.
"Don't tell my mom I fell asleep," Eren said.
"I won't," Bailey said. "I don't want to get you in trouble."
"Good, cause if you did I'd tell your mom about the time you tried to sneak outside the wall."
"You did it too, but either way my mom wouldn't care."
"Then I'll tell your brother."
"Okay now that's a whole different story."
She kicked a rock on across the road as we walked.
"We were so close to getting out of here," She said. "If Commander Erwin didn't catch us we could've gone."
"I wanted to go outside those walls so bad!" Eren said. "I just think your facial features gave it away."
"Or maybe the fact that they saw two sets of legs! I shouldn't have gotten on your shoulders, we could've just said we were short like Captain Levi."
"True, but it still wouldn't have worked."
"Well at least we tried."
"Yeah, and Captain Levi said 'tch you little brats try this again I'll have you cleaning stuff for a year'," he said mimicking Levi.
"You do a good Levi impression, I bet I can do Hange."
"Take a shot."
"OH LEVI, WHAT TYPES OF TITANS DO YOU THINK WE'LL FIND OUT THERE?!! CAN I TAKE SOME BACK WITH US?!!!"
"Good impression."
"Why thank you, we both can do Erwin though."
They both looked at each other, and used their finders as eyebrows.
"I'm Erwin, look at my fabulous eyebrows," they both said.
They both laughed.
"Seriously though, when he was yelling at us the other day, I couldn't stop staring at his eyebrows," Bailey said. "They're so bushy!"
"I know, I had to keep myself from breaking down laughing," Eren said.
The city bell started to ring loud throughout the city. They both looked at each other with a smile on their faces. They ran down the streets of town where they found people lined up. They pushed themselves up to the front so they could see. The scout regiment walked through the streets, all on their horses and wearing their green capes with the wings of freedom on the back. At least 200 soldiers were passing through, but three stood out. Hange Zoe and Levi Ackerman, both squad leaders of the survey corpse, Levi being humanity's strongest soldier. The third person, Commander Erwin ( also known as commander eyebrows.) Bailey and Eren stared in awe, they both wanted to join the Survey Corpse. Levi and Hange stopped in front of them. Hange had a huge smile on her face, Levi a blank stare.
"Hey little brats," he said. "Did you guys learn your lesson?"
"Yes Captain Levi," they both said.
"That was pretty smart," said Hange. "I could use kids with smarts like yours. Tell you what, when we come back from our mission, I'll let you guys come help me in my lab."
"Really?!"
"Hange, that things going to be a filthy mess," Levi said. "You know it'll need to be cleaned everyday after all those experiments you do in there."
"Clean freak," Hange mumbled. "Anyway, I'd love to have your help, I just have to ask Erwin."
"Hange, Levi."
Erwin then road up on his white horse looking down at the kids.
"We need to go," he said.
"Yes Erwin," Hange said. "But I wanted to ask, would you be okay if these kids came and helped me when we got back from our mission."
He looked down at Bailey and Eren.
"Aren't you the two who tried to sneak in as Survey Corpse members?"
They both nodded.
"But we learned our lesson sir," Bailey said.
"We won't do it again," Eren said.
"Understood," Erwin said. "Hange they're your responsibility though."
"Understood."
"Those two brats are going to leave a filthy mess," Levi said.
"Then we'll clean it up," Eren said.
"We promise we'll do our best and follow all the rules you give us without any back talk," Bailey said. "Just please let us do this, we've really want to help the scout regiment."
Erwin thought.
"Okay, " he said. "But I want to see both your parents so I can get they're permission."
"Yes sir!" They both said.
"Tch," Levi said.
"We need to go," Erwin said.
They all walked off.
"See you soon!!!" Hange said.
"Bye!!!" Eren and Bailey both yelled waving.
"Did that seriously just happen?" Eren asked.
"Oh my gosh, we get to hang out with the scouts!!!!" Bailey said.
"If you ask me, the scouts are just a joke," some guy said.
Bailey and Eren both looked over at the guy.
"All our taxes are going towards them, and only a few come back with nothing accomplished. If you ask me, it's just like throwing our money off of a cliff, there's no point in helping them it's a joke."
Bailey came over with Eren and bopped the guy in the head with a piece of wood.
"The scouts aren't a joke!" They both yelled.
"Why you little...."
Before he could grab them, they ran off into the streets. When they thought they out ran the guy, they stopped.
"Stupid guy," Bailey said. "Thinking Scouts are a joke, they are helping humanity!"
"He should know better," Eren said. "The scouts go out there and risk their lives to help us, they should respect them!"
"There are some other people I wish I could do that to. People who disrespect the scouts and people....."
Bailey trailed off. Eren looked over at her, knowing what she was thinking.
"Bailey," Eren said. "How are things at home?"
Bailey just shook her head. Eren put his hand on her shoulder.
"Hey,"he said.
She looked up and caught herself staring into Eren's teal eyes.
"You know you can talk to me about anything."
She nodded.
"He's been abusing my mom again," she said.
"D..."
"Don't say his name."
Eren nodded.
"Kendal tried to fight him, but he lost and got beat bad, I tried to help but I got hit too, and mom couldn't do anything."
"Why doesn't she just divorce that asshole?!"
"Because he has money, and that's what our family needs right now."
She felt tears falling down her face.
"I can't stand it Eren! At night I'll hear mom getting hit by him and her screaming in pain, and then she comes out the next morning like nothing happened. All she does is lie, and I know it's for our benefit but I want to help her, not watch her suffer."
"Bailey."
Eren whipped away her tears.
"Things will get better, you'll see. Things always work out the way they are supposed to."
She nodded.
"And I promise you, the moment I'm big enough I'll beat that man until he can't stand, that asshole will get what he deserves."
She smiled.
"Thanks," she said.
"And if you ever need to, you can come live with my family, you can share a room with Mikasa."
"I'll keep that in mind."
She gave Eren a hug.
"Thanks for always being there for me," she said.
"Don't mention it," Eren said.
"Bailey!"
Eren and Bailey turned around to see Bailey's older brother Kendal. He stood over them, brown hair and blue eyes with freckles.Eren always teased Bailey about how they looked nothing alike, Bailey had brown hair and eyes, getting the brown hair from her mom and eyes from her dad.
"You ready to head home?" Kendal asked.
Bailey shook her head no.
"I don't want to hear mom tonight," she said.
Kendal was 4 years older than her, so since her mom couldn't do anything he took care of her.
"I know you don't," he said. "But we have to."
She nodded.
"See you tomorrow Eren," she said.
"Bye Bailey," he said.
Kendal and Bailey then walked away towards their house.
"What did you guys do today?" He asked.
"We got firewood," Bailey said. "Then we watched the Scouts leave."
"Do you think they'll find something?"
"I always think they will, I have hope for the Scout Regiment."
It was silent as they walked.
"Hey Bailey," Kendal said. "I've never really asked you why, but why do you want to join the Scout Regiment?"
"I want to fly," she said. "I want to fly on the wings of freedom, outside of these walls, outside of this living hell, and see what else the world has to offer, instead of being caged up like an animals."
