It was another record breaking hot day, I sat in my apartment with my friend/Room mate "Bucky" sitting around watching TV and eating Popsicles. Me and Buck had met a year ago. I found him unconscious in an ally way, and instead of calling the police. (Which stupid me that's what I should've done.) I brought him to my apartment and he's stayed ever since. He's told me about some conspiracy organization called Hydra, he told me about what they did to him, and about his days back in World War II with the Avenger, Captain America. Or, fragments of these memories anyway. He's spent the last year adjusting to modern times, come to think of it, he's hardly actually gone outside in the last few months. I swear he worries me to no end. As Bucky had his face glued to the TV and a laptop to his side sighing with boredom. I started getting impatient and frustrated from the heat. "THATS IT!!!!" I shouted getting off the couch. Bucky jumped out of surprise from the suddenness of my outburst. "We're getting outta here. Come on you." I grabbed Buckys hand before he could say anything in protest. I shoved him in the passenger seat of my car and we drove out of the city. A few minutes later Bucky had finally decided to say something and break the silence. "So, where are you taking me Doll?" He asked looking out the passenger side window. I kept my eyes on the road. "I'm not sure, I just needed to get some air. And you needed out of the apartment." I said while still driving. "Now that I think of it I haven't been out in awhile. Well, not in the daylight anyway." He said still looking out his window. "Ah, so that's what you've been sneaking off to do at night." I smirked at him. "You got a girlfriend buck? Because that would explain quite a bit." I asked teasing him a little. "Actually, I don't." He said coldly. "Oh, sorry Bucky." I said as I realized I had crossed a line. "It's fine doll, I just have my eye on someone in particular." We had let silence fall over the car again, until I passed a sign that caught my eye, "Summer Farmers Market!" The sign read. "Ooooo. That sounds like fun!!" I got off at the Next exit. Soon me and Bucky were both out and walking up and down the farmers market grounds. So much fresh food, handmade furniture, and candies! All of this goodness Lined the market grounds and good smells bewitched the air around us. For the first time I think ever, I saw Bucky smile and enjoying himself. He started letting go of what had been troubling him for the past year. The day went by quick, buying food and seeing cute animals can do that I guess. It was soon night. Bucky and I started home and we talked about our favorite parts of the day. "Hey Doll face, stop here!" Bucky demanded. "Ok, ok, Bucky." I smiled as I stopped the car. Bucky jumped out of the car and grabbed my hand. Similar to what I did to him earlier that day. He dragged me behind him for a good few minutes until finally stopping in a meadow of fireflies. They danced and lit up the world around us like Christmas lights. All I could do was watch as their dance mesmerized me. After a few minutes of watching the firefly show in silence, I asked Bucky something. "How did you know about this place?" I asked him. He stood beside me still staring at the fireflies. "I had grandparents who lived not far from here, I used to spend summers with them. And I would stare outside every night and watch the fireflies from my bedroom window. One night I snuck out and slept out in this field along with Steve. We where so young back then." Buckys voice cracked and his eyes had tears forming in them. I'd never seen him this open before. Maybe it was because he was in a place that held so many meaningful memories for him, and he couldn't believe he forgot about them at one point. Or maybe, he was just starting to trust me. He kept the tears in his eyes from falling down his cheeks and turned his head towards me. "Thanks for taking me out of the city today doll face. I didn't realize how much I needed it." He said still sniffling a little bit. "Don't mention it." I smiled back, hoping to cheer him up. "Hey doll, can I, do something real quick?" He asked hesitantly. I was a little confused but was curious. "Sure buck, go ahead." I said as my voice cracked a little. Bucky came closer and put one hand on my face as he stared into my eyes, and the other on my waist. He moved closer and planted a rough but very sweet kiss on my lips. "B-BUCKY?!" I got all red and flustered. He smiled smugly but playfully as well. "Sorry doll face, everything was to perfect to pass up." He said laughing a little. "You jerk.." I said still red in the face. "Oh, so you enjoyed it?" He smiled playfully again. "I can neither confirm nor deny that fact. Come on, we'd better get back to the car." I smiled. So as the day closed, my get out of the house day turned into the day I found out bucks feelings towards me. And maybe just maybe, it would turn into something a little more.
