CHAPTER 19

* 8 MONTHS LATER*

- KARRUECHE'S POV

I was staring at the baby. Woah. I just didn't get it. Everyone had been telling me that the bond between you and your baby is so strong after you've given birth. Not for me. This kid didn't even seem like mine and I certainly didn't have any love for her yet. Yeah, she was gorgeous. But she wasn't really Chris'. I was beginning to regret my actions.

"She's so beautiful," Chris whispered, picking her up gently and kissing her.

Kerry was stood by his side, videoing everything. Neither of them had been pleased when they found out I was carrying 'Chris'' child but they'd slowly got used to the idea. Kerry had actually been really nice to me eventually and we even went to a parenting class together. 

I could feel a lump in my throat as Chris rocked the baby up and down. I wanted to puke. I was feeling really guilty now. Yeah, you're probably wondering if Karrueche can feel guilty... but I am a human and, yes, I do have feelings sometimes.

"Congratulations," Kerry said to me. "You should be really proud."

What, proud that I was lying about the real father? Proud that this baby would forever wrongly think that her biological father was Chris?

Chris gave the baby back to me and I held her in my limp arms. I didn't even want her.

"What names are you thinking of?" Chris asked, crouching down at the side of the bed.

'Accident, mistake, lie, fake,' I thought to myself.

"Liana for the middle name," I spoke softly. "You can chose her first name."

"Really? You sure?" he asked.

"Positive," I muttered.

Chris took his time. "Do you like the name Zahra? I think she suits it."

"I do too," I tried to smile while I held Zahra's tiny hand.

"Can I hold her again?" Chris said. I nodded and he scoped her up in his arms, walking around the room with her. "Hello Zahra, you beautiful girl. Your name is Zahra Liana Brown, did you know that? Your Mom is called Karrueche and she the one who just gave birth to you. And I'm Chris and I'm your Daddy. And guess what, Zahra? You got a dog called X and he lives in my house. You can come and visit him anytime you want, baby girl."

He then went up to Kerry. "Wave to Kerry and the camera, Zahra! Wave!"

Chris took Zahra's hand and waved it for her.

"Now, I'mma take you back to your Mom now," he said. He handed her back over to me.

- CHRIS' POV

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I was a father. I didn't care if I wasn't with Karrueche... I'd be there for Zahra as much as I would be for Kerry and I's baby.

Kerry and I helped Karrueche and Zahra get home and we then stayed there pretty much all day (Zahra was born in the morning). I felt really connected to my daughter - she was perfect. I was mesmerised by her and I couldn't believe that the mistake of cheating on Kerry could amount to this. I had no regrets now because I was beginning to realise that everything happens for a reason.
