Ashes [Jasper Hale] [2]

09 ; nine in the afternoon

I was left alone with Emily and Kim quite a lot lately, and since Kim was still awkward and her parents weren't even aware of the fact that she was dating someone and started hanging out with his friends, she had troubles explaining why she suddenly started coming back when the sun was already down, so she simply abandoned us early.

The pack was busy.

A red haired leech was visiting lately, and she was the reason for the missing people, so the pack had no other choice but to start venturing, while still trying to teach Jacob (who wasn't speaking to me) and Paul (who was an idiot) control.

"I say we go on a trip to Rio," I offered Emily. "You know, just us girls. Leave them alone for a while, see if they manage to survive."

"You're really an evil master-mind," Emily sighed, lecturing. 

"I know." I hummed in thought, flipping the pancakes expertly. "I do try."

"Why are you making pancakes again?" she sighed as she took out the muffins from the oven, looking at me disapprovingly.

"Because stupid Jared won the stupid bet."

Emily chuckled lightly, before the roar of a familiar engine was heard. "Oh, they're back!" Emily said happily, "you guys hungry?" she wondered once they opened the door.

"When is Jared not?" I snorted, and he mocked me in fake laughter, repeating my words. "Shut up."

"Make me," I grabbed an apple, and threw it blindly. "Ha! I caught it! Thanks Ash," I laughed, turning around, color slowly leaving my face as I realized my sister was in the room.

"Hey Bells." Emily turned as well, turning to see who was I talking to and about.

Bella looked awkwardly at Emily's scarred face before turning to look at the muffins in her hands. I dropped the pancakes into Jared's favorite plate, setting it in front of him.

"That's it," I told him, and he happily sat down. "We've settled the score, I made you pancakes twenty times."

"Hey, Ash," Embry inquired, "how many times does Paul shift a week?"

I hummed in thought. "This week he shifted only twice... I guess now it's a third since I don't see Sam, Paul and Jacob?" the two nodded. "Most weeks it's four."

"Which makes it about two out of three," Jared smirked.

"So who's that?" Emily inquired, though she knew  it was Bella, which made it obvious she was my sister.

"Bella Swan," Jared told her, shrugging. Since Jacob's shifted, she was a topic of conversations for us.. "Who else?"

"Leave it to Jacob to find a way around," Emily murmured. She stared at her, and neither half of her once-beautiful face was friendly, which must've been a first. "So, you're the vampire girl."

"Yes. Are you the wolf girl?"

The four of us laughed. "I guess I am." She turned to Jared. "Where's Sam?"

"Bella, er, surprised Paul this morning."

I rolled my eyes, starting to get annoyed with him. "He needs to control himself."

 "Ah, Paul," she sighed. "Do you think they'll be long? I was just about to start the eggs."

"Don't worry," Embry told her. "If they're late, we won't let anything go to waste."

"We've got no doubt," I barely mumbled, but a moment later I was hit with the apple I threw at Jared minutes earlier.

Emily chuckled, and then opened the refrigerator. "No doubt," she agreed. "Bella, are you hungry? Go ahead and help yourself to a muffin."
