Jack had driven us into traffic, typical in New York. Wherever you go in the city, there is bound to be traffic. We were almost to Sally's diner when someone nearly crashed into our van and ended up hitting two people and colliding into a bank. The car caught on fire, and the two people he hit laid on the ground, dead. Then the police came, cleared the wreck and took the bodies away. All while we were stuck at the same goddamn traffic light. When we finally made it to Sally's, she was there at the front door waiting for us. She opened the van door and helped me out of the van. Jack then came walking over, greeting Sally. Sally had her blond hair hanging behind her, most of it dirty from working in her diner. She was wearing a waitress outfit, which was strange since was the owner of the place. The dress was dirty just like her hair, only there was a brown stain dead center. "Nice place you have." Jack said. She smiled and started talking. "Here..." She said as she opens the door to the diner, inside were happy people eating whatever they please. We walked right past the diner portion and into the kitchen. Then she opened an iron door which lead down into a cellar or something of the sort. She kept the door open for the both of us, then shut and locked the door.
Jack and I continued walking down the stairs until we met the floor. Down here were some guards holding assault rifles and some light armor. One sat in a seat next to a computer, eying us as we continued walking. Sally soon caught up to us. "Follow me." She said. She lead us to another room with a table in the center of it. There were some chairs around the table, and we sat down. Sally walked over to a filing cabinet and opened one of them up. She took out some papers, shut the cabinet, and walked over to us. She threw the papers onto the table and sat down on a chair. "So, you were looking for a stealing, correct?" She said, her hands on the table. I nodded and she grabbed a paper out of the stack on the table and laid it in front of us.
"Like I said on the phone, the Mutant Resistance is looking for some information on The New Order on more testing sites." I nod, and then look at Jack. He was doing the same thing. "Well, some of this information happens to be right here in New York." She says, pointing on a spot on the map. "Right here, in Ontario. Looks like they have the information holed up in a building." She then folds out a map of Ontario and points on a street. "This is the street, and here is the building." She points at a brick building. "Looks disguised, anyway to tell it from the other buildings?" Jack said. Sally nods. "Right across the street from it has a boutique with security cameras all over the place. This is also a disguise. It is going to be your entrance." She stops pointing, the places her hands on her hips. "Entering through the main entrance will be suicide, guards are all over that entrance." Sally takes out a picture of the boutique. "The cameras are here, here, and here." She points to the entrance of the boutique, the north-west side, and the glass window facing into the store. "Those are the only ones I could see, anyways. I figure there are more once you get inside."
I stand up and stare at the picture of the boutique. "Where is the entrance into the brick building from the boutique?" Sally shakes her head. "I don't know, but it has to be on the first floor. The rest is up to you." Jack stands up, talking a bit louder then Sally and I had been. "Wait, so after we find the entrance, it's all up to us?" Jack said. Sally nods her head. "There is nothing else I can do, not even the mutants know where the information is or how well they put up security." Jack almost bangs his head in frustration, but stops. "I suspect you want paid after giving us this job?" I said. Sally smiles. "You bet your life!" She said. "But I don't only want the money, I want something else as well, if you want a discount."
I smirk. "No." I said. "What?" Sally said back. "I'm giving you the money, that's it." I said, taking out the bag of money the soldiers gave me. "Fine." Sally said. "I want twenty five, unless you take the discount." I take out twenty five dollars from the bag and toss it to Sally. "You cheap bastard." She said, staring at the money I threw to her. "The doc is dead, isn't he?" I smile. "He scammed me, and he paid for it." I said. "Goodbye, Sally." I said, walking out of the room and up the stairs. Sally cheered a little bit. She found out that I had thrown her thirty five instead of twenty five. "What was that for?" She said, running over to Jack and I, who were walking up the stairs. "For your business, of coarse." I said, continuing to walk up the stairs. "I'll figure out a way, Mr.Wolfe!" Sally yelled. "Good luck with that." I say. Jack chuckles a little like a child finding out a secret. This was no secret. Even her guards knew that Sally was in love with me. She didn't hide it. She always wanted a kiss in the form of a "discount". I never go with discounts, anyways.
I guess I like her back, but only a little. She wasn't quite my type. But sometimes she can be so right with her words, and it just works, like a key to the door. It's weird, and complicated. Jack continued chuckling all the way up the stairs, and when we unlocked the door, he stopped in his tracks. There were, on the other side of the diner, five men with concealed revolvers underneath their jackets. They were showing them to everyone in the room, one of them taking it out and pointing it at a little kid. Jack and I dashed into the kitchen and hid behind a counter. "How the hell did the doctor's men find us?" Jack said. I motion for him to be quite and unholstered my 9mm, Jack doing the same. I peak over the counter and notice the men were harassing the people in the diner. No one in the diner moved. The men knocked over plates and glasses that people had ordered. They kept walking through the diner portion and were about to enter the kitchen. "They're going to find us." Jack whispers. I nod. I continue looking over the counter, waiting for the best time to strike.
Right at that moment, I stand up out of the counter and fire my 9mm into one of the guards. He falls, and the others grab their guns and fire on our position. Bullets sprayed above my head while I ducked back in cover. "Keep them pinned!" One guard yells over the gunfire. Jack fires a couple of shots, missing. They then start firing where Jack was. I dash behind the refrigerator, firing while I do so. The guards fire at the fridge, and Jack gets a quick shot at a guard. He fires, hitting a guard in the shoulder. The guard falls. The guards then separate their fire between the two of us. Moments later, the steal door opens and Sally's guards open fire on the Doctor's men. The remaining men get shot in the back and fall. Sally walks out the steal door and spots the carnage. Her counter and fridge were riddled with bullets, and her customers were running for their lives. "Gosh, what should I tell police?" She said. One of the docs men, who was only hit in the shoulder, grabs their gun and aims at Sally. She kicks it out of his hand and stomps on his head. "Fucker..." She said as she walks out of the kitchen.
Jack and I step out of cover and start walking towards the van. Luckily, the doctor's men didn't touch it even the slightest. Jack hops into the drivers seat, and I hop into the passenger's. He then starts the ignition and he starts driving away just before the police came. Jack started driving out of New York and we started making our way to Ontario. It had been one hell of a day, and it want over yet. Jack and I made our plans as he drove out of New York City. We would sneak in at night wearing ski masks so that we couldn't be identified, shoot any camera that would give away the plot, and kill anyone who noticed what was going on. No exceptions. It might work, maybe just enough so that we could get in and out without being found. It's worth a try, anyways.
