Jack pulled up a few blocks away from the boutique, and we put on our leather jackets that had concealed holsters built into them. I put a silenced 9mm in the holster, along with thirty spare bullets. I held a ski mask in my left hand, and would put it on when we were ready. Walking around with ski masks in public isn't a very good thing. Could end the mission before it even starts. So Jack and I walk a few blocks to the street Sally says is the boutique. We walk down the street and immediately spot the first camera on the outside of the building. I motion for Jack to go in behind it. He does so and aims at the camera. He fires, destroying it. I run up to a window of the boutique and spot the other cameras. I didn't see any other cameras, and I motion to Jack to get on the roof. Jack nods and starts climbing the brickwork. I continue looking in the window and watch as Jack climbs out of an air vent on the side of the north-west camera. I motion for him to wait.
I slowly open the door, and position my gun to hit the window camera. I signal for Jack to fire. We fire at the same time. The cameras blow to pieces. I signal to Jack that we destroyed the cameras and he climbs out of the vent. "I guess this is the time where we put on the masks?" Jack said. I nod and put the ski mask over my face. "Now." I said "Find the entrance." Jack nods and we both start searching for an opening. Anything helped. Jack started looking behind paintings while I looked for a switch, or anything that looked like it. I looked behind the cash register and open it. Inside was about one hundred and ten dollars and I take it. I close the register and keep looking. I notice under the register a button. I press it, and a hatch appears next to the stairway leading downward.
"Bingo." I said and run to the stairway, Jack soon following. I start walking down the stairs, my gun raised. At the end of the stairway was a giant, steel door. Jack runs down the stairs and grabs the door's handle. He pulls, and the door doesn't budge. I grab onto it and start pulling. The steel door creaks, then it opens automatically. Jack backs away from the door, aiming his pistol at the entryway. Jack and I waited for the door to fully open. When we looked through the doorway, the place was disgusting. The place had definitely seen better days. The whole was made out of iron or some other sort of metal that had rusted or simply fallen apart. Metal lay on the floor and plants grew almost everywhere. There was a long hallway leading to a doorway that looked similar to the one we just went through. To our right and left were shorter hallways that branched off from the one we were on. The place seemed abandoned.
"The hell?" Jack said when he stared at all the halls. "This place seems, almost unreal." I turn to Jack and start talking with him. "It is probably abandoned, but the information could still be here." I said. "We still have a mission to complete, so let's do this." Jack nods and we start making our way down the center hallway. Right when we took a few steps, I heard a loud crash and a moan. I immediately turn around and motion for Jack to be quite. I slowly approach the branching hallway we had passed just seconds earlier. I peak around the corner and notice three mutants, all running through the hallway away from me. One had a green and yellowish skin, a brown sideburns and long hair. The second had a mohawk, clean cut sides and the same color skin. The last mutant had no hair whatsoever, and a red skin color that showed through their clothing.
I could see Jack slowly approach from behind me and look over my shoulder. "So that's what mutants look like." He said. I raise my finger and he shuts up. I like Jack, he's like a brother. But man, he doesn't know when to shut up. Then I started thinking if I should get their attention, but then that could ruin the whole operation. Yet, they could show me the hell around this place. In the middle of my thinking, the door in front of the mutants open, revealing a New Order soldier. The mutants, realizing this, stopped right in their tracks and turned around. The soldier smiled, raised his assault rifle, and sprayed into the hallway. The mutants had nowhere to run, and were shot down. All three of them were hit in the back and fell on the floor. Small puddles of blood surrounded their corpses.
I could here Jack cursing under his breath. I ignore it and continue watching the situation unfold. The soldier was still smiling when another man appeared behind him wearing a brown trench coat, a pair of glasses, and a fedora. The man looked like he was from some old cartoon, the type everyone made fun of, you know? But this man was completely different. The moment he walked down, he congratulated the soldier and continued walking towards us. He stepped over the red skinned mutant and continued walking. The New Order soldier grabbed one of the corpses and started dragging it away. I duck back into cover and think about what has happened. We stumble into a New Order testing site, witnessing some runaway mutants get shot down, and a random man appears out of no where. Could this man lead us to the information we need? I decided to risk it and think he'll lead us to the information.
I look around the bend one more time and the man was still walking towards us with the soldier about ten meters away, dragging away all three bodies with one hand. At this point, they could see me any moment. I duck back and motion for Jack to get down. Jack, nods and runs up the hallway towards the opposite doorway. I turn and start following him. There were no immediate doorways, and knew if the man turned the corner we would be spotted. But then Jack triggers an automatic doorway on the right and runs right through it. I follow him through the doorway. The room we entered was unoccupied, and it seemed to look like a power generator area. The room had one large, spinning disc in the center. Attached to the disc were cables that were connected to three cylinders on each side. Jack was already staring in awe at the disc in the center. The disc itself was large in size, and loud. You could hear it throughout the room. The door shut behind me, and Jack ran to the generator. He then started laughing like some sort of mad man. Something about Jack makes me wonder why the hell Toby recommended him to me. But my thought were disrupted when I heard voices on the other side of the door.
Jack, who at the time was distracted by the generator, heard nothing. I ran over to Jack and told him that there were people on the other side of the door. He almost jumped when he heard that. He looked for some place to hide, but found nothing. I hid beside the door ready to ambush the people if they came in. I raised my 9mm and aimed at the doorway. Jack saw me, and did the same on the other side of the door. The door opened, and in came two men dressed in utility uniforms. They were completely surprised when I shot one in the arm. Jack shot his man in the head, killing him instantly. At least his aim was still the same. The utility man I shot barley had a chance to scream before I shot him once again, this time in the head. Jack then started yelling at me. "What the fuck, man!" He yelled. He then started blabbering about interrogation. "Jack..." I said. "Would you risk alerting the whole base to us?" Jack then kept blabbering about the same thing over again. "We could have easily found where they kept the information if they knew where it was!" I started speaking, a little louder then Jack had been. "IF they even knew there was any information at all!" Jack then kept yelling about the subject, and mid sentence I heard a gunshot and Jack fell to the ground.
