All the girls are walking on the sidewalk because it's nice outside. The plane crashing at the airport is in the past. They've completely ignored that fact that they just destroyed a $4.9 million dollar jet. They are now on their way to a local hotel to rest for the night and wake up replenished, energized, and refreshed and ready to rescue James.
"Well here it is... Honolulu Inn," Joan said.
They were all walking towards the entryway to get into the hotel. With their unpleasant odor, they sure needed to take a shower after fifteen hours of not being able to shower. It was now dark out. The sky was clear. There is a slight breeze from the north coming down from over the dead volcanoes. The palm trees swaying side to side, dancing in the wind. There were tons of locals walking around. Going into local bars, or even taking an evening stroll through downtown Honolulu.
"I really like it here. The temperature is beyond what New York's temperature is right now," Joan said.
After that, they check in at the front desk of the Honolulu Inn Motel. Joan sets her suitcase down and walks up to the front desk to grab a hotel room for the night.
"Good evening mam, we'd like a double queen room please," Joan asked politely.
The lady at the front desk took off her glasses and looked up at Joan.
"Hello, I'm sorry but our check in and check out time is done for the day. You should have called ahead and reserved a room,"
Joan puts her arm across the front desk and leans in towards the lady.
"Look, you're not just going to leave us on the streets for the night are ya? I mean we just flew in from New York City, United States and we're pretty tired. In addition, the flight here was hectic and death-defying. Our jet was attacked by the U.S Air Force. Not getting into anymore detail. But please can we just have a room for about a week, please?"
The lady stands up from her chair and looks over the front desk at the other girls.
"Wow you guys look like you've all been through a-lot. Here, take a key. The first night's on me. Don't worry about it. If you guys need anything, just call up here. Room 201 will be your room. Have a good night girls. See you in the morning for breakfast," the lady said.
McKenna, who is standing in the background, looks at the lady.
"Awe, that is so kind of you, thank you,"
The girls focuses her attention towards McKenna.
"You're very welcome girls. Now go, get some sleep. You look like you girls need it. Have a goodnight,"
Then Joan grabs the key from the lady's hand and turns around to grab her suitcase.
'C'mon girls. We'd better get some sleep before it's morning," Joan said.
The girls all grab the handles of their suitcases and start walking alongside Joan.
"This is too much. I mean, now that Mikayla is gone, what are we supposed to do?"
Joan stops walking and stands her suitcase straight up. Then she turns around and faces the girls who are standing behind her.
"Look I wasn't supposed to tell you this, but I'm going to anyways. When everyone left the night we were cranking out the numbers and how much it would cost for this trip, I came back over to her house after, you, McKenna went to bed. We discussed that if she dies along the way or get's 'murdered' in anyway, I'd become the group's new leader. So, now that I told you guy's that, I broke a promise between me and her,"
McKenna then stands her suitcase up and puts her arms at her waist and squints her eyes at Joan.
"Joan, you didn't break a promise, you told us the truth, kind of. At least you didn't lie to us. I saw Mikayla get sucked out of the hole like she was nothing. Mikayla was a great woman. She was a leader. When we were all fighting, she'd tell us to stop and get along. She will never be forgotten. This should have never happened to her, it should have been me," McKenna said to Joan while tearing up.
