It had been 2 months since school started. It was October. Jocelyn decided she was too old to go trick or treating so she was going to stay home and hand out candy with a friend. Jocelyn’s first choice, of course, was Ashlyn. Ashlyn said no because she was going trick or treating for her last year. Next Jocelyn asked Nicole. Nicole said no because she was having some old friends over and they were gonna hang out. Next she asked Renee, who said no because she got grounded. Jocelyn then decided she would ask Ava because she wanted to get to know her better. Ava said yes. Jocelyn couldn’t wait til halloween her and Ava were gonna hang out then they were gonna go to a free haunted house at a library.
Renee was spending the night at her house on a Saturday night and her and Jocelyn got to talking about going to a haunted house. They couldn’t do it that night because it was too late and Jocelyn had to go to church the next morning. They decided they would get a group of people to go to the Heart of Darkness on October 25th, the saturday before halloween. They had a group of 16 going at first. Then a lot of people backed out, including Renee. They were planning on there being 10 people then more dropped out. Ashlyn gave Jocelyn and Calvin a ride there that night. When they got there there was only her Ashlyn, Calvin, Katie, and two of Katie’s friends. It was okay, except that since Katie was in front and she had gone through there more, so she was telling the people that were supposed to jump out not even to try or she would hurt them. There was a guy standing in front of the doorway to got out of the house and he wouldn’t let us through, so Katie started bad talking him. It was very funny. At the end they took the rope and it was every one for their self. They had to run out of there with a guy that had a chainsaw following them.
Finally it was Halloween day. Jocelyn was so excited, because after school Ava was coming over. Ava had to ride Jocelyns bus. They had to get bus passes, so Avas mom wrote a note, and so did Jocelyns. When they gave the lady their notes she told them they might not get a pass for Ava today. This made them very worried. If they didn't get a pass they had to walk home, and it was almost 2 miles away from school. Jocelyn didn't let this little problem mess her day up. They morning went by and Jocelyn saw Ava in the hallway. Ava told Jocelyn that she got the bus pass already. Jocelyn was so relieved. After school Ava met Jocelyn, then they went to the buses. Soon it became time to hand out candy. Jocelyns mom had taken her little sister trick or treating, and her other little sister went with her dad. When they got home and Jocelyn and Ava were done handing out candy they went to the haunted house. At the haunted house you could tell it was a library, because the shelves were not even as tall as Jocelyn or Ava so you could see everyone else that was in there. They were in a black room talking to a zombie bride, who was the librarys teen librarian. She was so nice and helpful.
They had been there for like almost one hour and they had gone through almost 25 times. It wasent scary once you go through it after a while. On their last time through a kid named Joey went through with them and it was funny because they lost him half way through. It was time to leave and Jocelyns mom was taking Ava home. Jocelyn didn't want it to end, because Ava was awesome. Sadly it had to end, because they had school the next day.
Then after a couple weeks Jocelyn found out that Ava wasn’t as great a friend as she seemed. Ava turned out to be a brat with no soul. The clothes Jocelyn had given Ava on the night of halloween were Jocelyns favorite clothes and Ava had not yet given them back. Jocelyn wanted them back so she texted Ava saying she wanted them back, but all Ava could say was she didn’t know where they were at and that she didn’t care. Jocelyn got angry. She told her mom and then her mom called Ava’s mom. Ava after a couple days gave Jocelyn some clothes and even though the weren’t hers she was happy to have clothes back.
Soon came Thanksgiving. It felt like it had only been 2 weeks since halloween. Jocelyn was at her dads for Thanksgiving. Her older sister Kennedy came over along with Kennedys husband, Dylan. They were kind of idiots to get married at 19, but oh well. They were supposed to bring the food over. They had told Jocelyns Dad that they were bringing a regular Thanksgiving meal, but when they showed up they had leftover macaroni and cheese. Jocelyn wanted to leave and go home cause she hated what they brought over. Her mom was coming to get her at four anyway to go black friday shopping, so Jocelyn was relieved about that.
Jocelyn had fun black friday shopping, but little did she know her life would change so much in the next month.
