Tear stained face. Mascara running down. Body shaking.
I never thought I would be in this situation again and I never thought I would be alone in it.
Few Hours Earlier
"Zayden! Zayden!"
His body was shaking and he was coughing up blood - so much blood. He wasn't answering to my shouts either.
This is terrifying.
"9-11, cancer patient having some type of seizure. Get here quick, please."
I was violently sobbing as I told them the address and such. Once they arrived I had gone insane. I didn't let go of his hand and held on to it tightly as if he would disappear just like her if I let go.
The doctors came rushing towards us, taking him and not letting me come - much to my protests.
"We'll take care of it." It was the last thing I heard from the doctor and I've been waiting ever since. My imagination thinking the worst.
Present Time
"Mom, I'm fine. I just need him to be fine." I wouldn't cry, she would come straight here if she hears me cry.
We said our goodbyes and then I was there - sitting. Waiting, for the doctor to tell me more.
The smell of death; medicine; chemicals were circulating throughout the air - just like before. Nothing has changed.
I was about to go out to get some fresh air, but thankfully my eyes spotted the doctor.
I ran towards him looking up at him with anticipation of what he was about to tell me.
"Is he fine?"
Then everything slowed down. Before the words even left his mouth the familiar scene came back. It replayed back in my mind and I knew. I knew the answer to my question.
I knew Zayden was gone.
