Lanz stared at the ground and tears rolled down his cheeks. Rue on the other hand darted right into the room.
"Come on wake up!" He yelled shaking his fathers dead body.
Lanz whipped away the tears and slowly made his way over to his brother.
"He was just with us laughing and training Lanz.." Rue whispered.
Lanz rubbed his back trying to comfort him.
"Com'on Rue lets go check the others." Lanz said in a slow voice. He walked over to his mother. Rue soon followed after. He gently grabbed his mothers hand.
"There is no chance for mom to live. She's the same as father. Cold." Rue said blankly looking at his mothers face.
Her once beautiful face was ruined by one measly bullet. Lanz and Rue sat in silence for a moment trying to take this all in.
Lanz bent down next to Rue and began examining their mom.
"Hey Rue do you see her necklace anywhere?"
"What necklace?" Rue looked at his brother wearing a confused looked on his face. He thought back to his mother trying to remember than it hit him.
"Oh yea the Topaz one that had been passed down for ages."
"No the sponge one, what else could I be talking about. " Lanz said sarcastically.
The two began shuffling around for a good minute trying to find it. They soon gave up and remembered they had a little sister.
"We are the worst brothers in history!" Rue exclaimed as Lanz just nodded in response.
Honestly the two have been avoiding the little girl on the desk. They feared she would've been dismembered or stabbed a hundred times over.
The two approached the body only to be surprised.
She had been laid on her stomach with the back of her small orange dress ripped off. She was covered in blood and scrapes but nothing serious.
The terrifying thing is that they branded her with their symbol. This was something farmers did to cows so people would know who's it is.
The enemy had marked their territory and will one day come back for it.
Hyo was still breathing and that's all they could hope for.
"Hyo.." Lanz breathed gently touching the scar. The little girl flinched and her eyes flickered open.
"HYO!" Rue and Lanz yelled in surprise than instantly hugged her.
Hyo didn't say anything just sat there and stared blankly at the wall.
"H-Hyo are you okay?" Rue asked but got no response.
Rue looked at Lanz his eyes full of panic. Before he could say anything Lanz raised his hand.
"She's probably in shock. She has been through so much at such a young age it makes me sick just thinking about it." He said calmly.
Rue said nothing just stared at his little sister.
"Let's go report back to the guards and get Hyo checked up." Lanz said, "Now help me put Hyo on my back."
Rue nodded his head and lifted Hyo off the desk. He placed her on his brothers back carefully scared he might drop her.
Hyo rapped her arms around his neck and the three made their way back to the survivors.
Soon the three made it to the group of maids, butlers, employees, and guards.
Lanz gave Hyo to a nurse who hurried her to the clinic.
Rue stood next to Lanz has he got everyone's attention.
"Hi everyone I'm sorry to say, but my father the king and my mother the queen are dead. My father was stabbed and shot while my mother had suffered a cut to the side and gunshot to her head." Lanz took a breath and stepped back.
"My younger sister Hyo had witnessed the murder and could have information we could use. She had also been branded by the enemy. We believe this was the same people that attacked the red kingdom. We would like everyone to keep Hyo's situation a secret for it could give the people the wrong idea. Don't even bring it up to the other kingdoms. Thank you. Again I'm sorry for all of you to have to go through this but I want you to know it gets better." Rue continued the speech for Lanz.
The people before them understand and continued to talk among themselves some cried for the loss of their king and queen or for family. Some even prayed.Time skip~~
It has been a week since the attack. Everyone was recovering and they started cleaning and fixing the castle.
The orange kingdoms closest ally the yellow kingdom came over to help.
Telegrams were sent to each and every kingdom with the news.
The yellow kingdoms prince and king and many helpers came as fast as they could.
Lanz was always busy talking to people since he was first in line to become king. For a twelve year old he took it all in well.
Rue had spent all his time trying to get Hyo to speak. Sometimes she would just burst out crying other times she would just stare right off in space.
She would eat of course but not that much.
Rue was reading a fairy tale to Hyo when suddenly Lanz bursts into the clinic.
"RUE! I need your help the king asked me something I don't understand I'm freaking out!" Lanz yelled at first than quickly calmed down.
Rue and Hyo stared right at him.
Rue looked at Hyo an sighed. He placed his book down and made his way to Lanz.
"She won't do anything Lanz it's making me worry. Than their is times when she just bursts out crying." Rue sighed again when he felt a tug at his shirt. He turned to see a 9 year old looking at him.
"Excuse me Mr.Rue I can keep your sister company." The little boy stared blushing with embarrassment.
Lanz looked at Rue with eyes that told him to hurry up.
Rue smiled, "of course Prince Ichiro but beware she is in a ruff state right now." Rue turned to Lanz and they both took off running.
Ichiro opened the door to see a girl about the same age as him sitting on one of the many beds in the room.
"Hi Hyo I'm Ichiro prince of the yellow kingdom." He spoke softly closing the door behind him.
He sat on the edge of the bed she was sitting on. He stared at her waiting for her to say something.
"Umm.." He mumbled looking away flustered. What do I say? Should I bring up a topic or something? While he was off in his own world Hyo started silently crying. She stared at the wall crying till it got to the point she was shaking. She started violently crying.
Ichiro started to flip out. What do I do what do I do. He thought than he ran up to her and grabbed her by the shoulders. He shook her and said,
"PLEASE STOP CRYING YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ME CRY!" He yelled.
Suddenly Hyo stopped crying and looked at Ichiro.
"I'm sorry." She whimpered holding her knees.
"I should've died with them why did they kill my parents and leave me." Hyo spoke her voice cracking time to time.
Ichiro's eyes softened and he pulled her into a hug. "Don't ever think about dying. I don't know you well but I can tell you're going to do amazing things. I don't have any idea about what they did to you in that room but I do know you should live. Live for the people that have died for you and live for the ones you hold dearest." Hyo sobbed into his shoulder finally gripping onto reality.
She pulled away from him and wiped away her tears.
"Thank you Ichiro." Hyo smiled for the first time in awhile.
"I'm sorry Hyo I would've offered you my handkerchief, but I used it when I cried early when I tripped." Ichiro's blushed.
This sent Hyo and Ichiro into a fit of laughter. After the two calmed down Ichiro held out his hand.
"Friends?""Friends of course." Hyo responded.
