"Can we go home?" I cried out in frustration.
"No, Jess. This is our home now," my mom replied as we pull into the driveway of hell. My mom recently got remarried to this guy named Aaron. He seems pretty cool enough, but she should know that he'll never replace my father.
My father was put in jail a couple months ago for the murder of his brother. In his defense, he was drunk. Yes, he can be dangerous when he's drunk. But when he isn't, he's the best. Watching movies with me, cooking all my favorite food; he was the dad everyone wished for. So this new asshole, my supposed step-dad, better not expect no damn Father's Day card.
"Now try and be nice to Aaron, sweetheart," my mom pleaded. I smiled sweetly.
"Of course, Mother." I got out of the car and grab my suitcases out of the trunk. Before I can close the trunk, I notice hands reach out to grab my bags.
"Hey, what are you-" I stopped when I found myself staring into warm chocolate eyes. My heart sped up to a pace I couldn't keep up with. It was hard keeping myself standing. My eyes started to roam this God who stood before me. His chiseled features made him appear older than I suspected he was. His 6 ft frame towered over my 5'3 one. His luscious black hair was long and reached the nape of his neck. The full lips that were formed into grin intrigued me more than I liked.
"When you're done eye-raping me, I'd like to show you your room." A playful tone was laced throughout his otherwise deep voice. A blush rose to my cheeks as I looked down at my shoes.
"Um, yeah, okay, let's go," I said, regaining my composure. I followed him into the house and up the stairs to the first door on the right. The room was painted a dark blue with a king size bed laying in the middle of the room. The room also included a bathroom and a walk-in closet. Great, I thought, A room to match my hair.
I'm a rare beauty. I was born with gorgeous dark blue hair. I've had a full head of hair ever since I was little. Now, my hair reaches the middle of my back. While my hair is dark, my eyes are light. They are the lightest color blue you'll ever see. I am 5'3 with a small chest, flat stomach, and long legs. Just your average teenage girl.
The boy entered my room and set down my bags on the bed. Before he left, I said, "I never caught your name."
He turned and looked me in the eye. "It's Matthew.'" A smirk rose to his lips. I recognized him as Aaron's son.
I narrowed my eyes and tried to ignore the feeling in between my legs. "From this point on, we're step-brother and sister. So don't try and-" I stopped when I realized how close he'd become to me while I was speaking. He was so close that I could smell the mint in his breath. His eyes stayed focused on me with a serious expression.
"We'll see,'" He whispered. I glanced down at his lips quickly before returning my gaze to his eyes. I swallowed. And just like that, he left my room and closed the door. I collapsed on my bed and caught my breath. How long have I been holding it?
"Jessica, dear?" I hear my mom call from down the stairs.
"Uh, yeah Ma?" I reply as I go to open my door.
"I'm going out to the school to get your supplies. Wanna come?"
I groan inwardly. School. Another thing I hate about moving: changing schools. Ever have your mom make a decision without consulting you? It's the worst, right?
Instead of responding, I went down the stairs and found her at the bottom, her long, brown hair put into a ponytail at the nape of her neck. She smiles at me before grabbing the keys and heading towards the door. I follow her outside and enter the passenger door. The car ride to Jefferson High was quiet and quick. I was glad for my mom's silence. I had a lot on my mind.
