Bree POV

***

I felt Mr. Davenport's location buzz in my chip as I sped to the location, my heart racing and adrenaline flowing through my veins, the wind blowing through my hair.

The sensation of superspeed was like none other. You truly felt free and... and like there's no boundaries. It's as if you're walking on clouds, the limits being endless. That's why I used it so often, just to feel the freedom as I ran.

I understand how our bionics fit us as people. Chase perfectly fits his super intelligence, his brainy attitude, his love of math and books. It's like our bionics are tailored to us as people, which no doubt they are.

Adam fits his superstrength in a way that he only feels confortable when he has power and knows he's in control. And that's one of the reason he treats Chase like a rag doll.

I came to a sudden stop and felt water all around me, the cold texture shocking my system as I broke my head above the surface, gasping for air. The sudden shock made my senses sharpen as I looked around. I was in a river underneath a bridge, and the hairs on my arm stood up when I heard footsteps atop the bridge approaching the ledge.

I quickly turned my invisibility app on and held my breath as I saw Mr. Davenport and another man peer over the edge, looking for the cause of the splash. I tried to hide myself but sighed in relief when they shrugged and walked back to the center of the bridge to talk.

I crept out of the water and shook the water off me, wringing out my hair as I stealthily made my way to the bridge, still invisible. I stared at the man beside Mr. Davenport and an old memory flashed in my head.

I was smiling in this mans arms as Mr. Davenport took a healthy but sleepy Chase out of his capsule and we all ran to the car.

My head pounded and I hid behind a conveniently placed plant by the entrance of the bridge, shaking my head to clear my thoughts. Who was this guy and what part did he play in my-our life?

I turned myself invisible again and I stood up, walking over to the two old friends, attempting to eavesdrop for Chase and send him the information telepathically. My new ability was so cool! I remember the first time I used it.

I was in class and I was glaring at Danielle, the stuck up snooty girl who had asked Ethan out just as I was about to. I glared at her, narrowing my eyes on her blonde wavy hair and I felt rage burning inside me... also jealousy.

Ethan was my crush and I really wanted to ask him out on a date, but unfortunately, Danielle swooped in as I was approaching Ethan and totally stole him away! And after, she gave me an aw-poor-little-baby look as they walked away... hand in hand.

I glared at her and finally began thinking something directed to her, although I knew she wouldn't hear it, I directed to her as I thought.

You little snooty brat. One day, I will have Ethan. And you will loose. I hate you Danielle, you will pay.

Immediatly after I finished, Danielle's head shot straight up, and her shoulders tensed as if someone was breathing on her neck. She slowly turned to me and gave me a scared and confused look which I returned with a smirk and a little wave, fueling her anger.

She huffed and turned back around, her hair whipping around her shoulder as she returned to pretending to pay attention to Ms. Riely's story about her boyfriend and when he broke up with her.

I again, began to think. You little spoiled princess. I'd hate to be you when I humiliate you and get Ethan as my boyfriend. MINE. Good luck sweetheart.

Again, she whipped her head around and narrowed her attention on me, not seeming to want to turn around any time soon. She glared at me and gritted her teeth, I just gave her a confused look and I glared back, thinking more.

I hate you. You will pay. I will have Ethan and you will have nothing you little boyfriend stealing lunatic, I-

"Ahhh!" Danielle screamed and stood up, everyone's eyes turning to her, even Ms. Riely. She held her head and stomped her foot, pointing at me. "She, she's talking in my head! I-she-gah!" And with that, she stormed out of the classroom, leaving everyone confused and staring at me.

After that day I used my telepathic powers to haunt Leo, it was a lot of fun I will admit. He kept screaming and yelling and throwing things around, claiming of the "weird and creepy voices in his head" everytime Mr. Davenport grounded him.

I'm getting a little off-track.

I snuck up to behind the two men and repeated everything they said, in my head, to Chase who I could only hope would hear the information and write it down, or do something with it.

"Here Donnie." The guy said, pulling a stack of papers out of the bag slung over his shoulder. "Here is all the information about Chase including medical reports up until the age of two when..." His voice faltered and he cleared his throat. "You know."

What? I thought, taken aback. Why would this guy have information about Chase? Had he been spying on us? What was going on?

"Thanks Douglas." Mr. Davenport replied, hastilly grabbing the papers as he gave the man (now identified as Douglas) a warm smile. "I'll tell the kids you're my cousin when we go back to the lab to fix Chase. You know what to do, right?"

Douglas bit his lip and hesitated, rubbing his neck awkwardly as he began to speak. "I... uh, didn't make an antidote for this deadly virus thing so I have no idea where to start." He confessed. "We'll just have to work on it ourselves."

"Douglas!" Mr. Davenport shouted, as he began arguing with the man in harsh tones, and I slowly walked over to a tree and plopped down, trying to process ths information I just recieved.

So, Douglas was related, maybe not a cousin but he was definitely related in some way. And Chase has a deadly virus so that's why Mr. Davenport wanted to meet up with Douglas, to find the antidote.

Maybe that's why he's been so busy and grumpy this past month. He's been so worried about the virus, not some stupid Davenport Industries project. He was being a good father.

I heard an engine stop to my left but my mind was swirling with thoughts and ideas, as I began to put the pieces together. Chase was dying and Mr. Davenport was trying to fix him, and everything was all just for Chase.

My mind began to clear when I heard footsteps behind me getting closer and closer. I had no time to react when two arms yanked me back into the tree, my head hitting the tree with an unhealthy thud as I fell forward.

I was dizzy and my head was pounding but I wasn't unconscious. I felt someone dragging me somewhere, and my senses kicked in and I kicked them away, standing up uneasily as I attempted to regain my balance, the world spinning around me.

I barely focused on a brown haired woman in front of me when I felt a sharp and uneven pain fill my body as I began to twitch, the hairs on my arms and legs burning off, as I fell forward, the grass hitting my face as I closed my eyes.

The pounding pain in my head and body was too much to bear and I slipped into unconsciousness, one word bouncing around in my head:

Electricity
