Author POV

***

As Bree came to, she began panicking and hyperventilating, causing her captor to clasp a hand over her mouth to keep her quiet. She cracked an eye open and she found it confusing who she saw. She saw two people she never met before. The first was a woman who had her hand over Bree's mouth. She had short brown hair styled in a pixie cut, dark and cold brown eyes, tanned skin and an evil smirk on her face and she was head to toe in black.

The second was a giant burly man, who had his back to Bree. He wore a long black cloak and he appeared to be bald, although it was difficult because all Bree saw was his back.

She squirmed and realized she was sitting with her back leaning on the wall and her hands were chained to the wall behind her, her feet shackled tongether in front of her. Her mind began to wander and she picked at her brain to try to recall any memory before she was kidnapped. Although her mind was blank, one thing was still prominent in her mind; her little brother was dying.

The woman holding Bree's mouth laughed maniacally and let go, wiping that hand on her side as she walked in front of their prisoner, her heels clicking on the wood floor that groaned under the weight. "Someone's awake!" The woman announced in a surprisingly calm and melodic voice. Bree glared at the woman who approached Bree caustiously, holding her chin with her two fingers as she glared back.

"Good." The man announced, still yet to turn around. "And how long have you estimated until... they get here." His voice was deep and rough, completely the opposite of the woman's.

Bree mind was everywhere but the conversation and she would've kicked herself if her legs were free. She felt her heart beat in her chest and she never felt more scared. The feeling of fear built up in her chest, broadcasting gruesome scenarios in her mind of the outcome. None of which are survival. And that was heart wrenching.

"Well, I don't think all of them are coming." The woman said, dropping Bree's chin which fell into her chest harshly, causing an inaudible whimper to escape her dry and chapped lips. "As I recall, two of them went out for ice cream, and the other one should be on his way. Then we can finally take what is ours and destroy the evidence."

That got Bree's attention, but she was unable to focus after hearing so. Without saying their names Bree was sort of confused as to who they were referring to but she picked it up quite quickly and decided to speak. "W-why?" Her voice was weak and scared, which was the total opposite of the way Bree intended it to sound.

"Why?" The man repeated, slowly turning around. "Why. Well, the reason why will be told within time, if at all. Until then, all you should worry about is yourself, but most importantly, your baby brother."

Now Bree had a clear vision on the man's appearance and she was shocked and a little disgusted with how he looked. Metal pieces stuck out from his forehead and cheeks, red blue and silver. He had an evil glint in his dull brown eyes and his beard and moustache were long and untrimmed. His smile was enough to give Bree nightmares for weeks but all of that dissolved when she replayed what he said in her head.

'Until then, all you should worry about is yourself, but most importantly, your baby brother.'

"What do you mean by that?" Bree demanded confidently, pulling on her arms as she set out to destroy the man in front of her. "What are you gonna do to Chase?"

"Ah yes Chase." The man replied, unfazed by the determined and fierce look in Bree's eyes. "The same Chase who will die of a deadly virus..." He checked his watch and gave Bree a sinister smile. "Oh would you look at that; today."
