Braelynn's POV:
~the next day~
I hear a ringing in my ear that's pretty loud
I open my eyes to see bright red letters
6:00am
I wake up & look over to see Nate in my bed
I shake him
"Nate..I gotta get up for the airport." I say
He doesn't budge
"Okay..I'll get ready" I sigh
I walk to the bathroom
I brush my teeth & wash my mouth out with mouthwash
I brush my hair out & tie it up in a messy yet cute bun
I put on sweats & a cute long sleeved tee
I put my glasses on
I grab my combat boots
I feel a hand wrap around my waist
"Why are you leaving me?" Nate asks pouting
His voice raspy & deep as he just woke up
(Ugh I hear it in my head😍❤️)
"I have to..my sister's flying in.." I say
He quickly hops out of the bed
"She's married & pregnant." I say giggling as he sprays cologne on himself
He smiles
"Where does she live anyway?"
"Utah." I say sighing as I tie the laces of my boots
"That's far away." He says
"No shit Sherlock" I say sarcastically
"Hey don't be mean." He says pouting
"I'm sorry I'm on edge right now..I mean my sister is 9 months pregnant & is due any minute..I haven't seen her since she was 4 months pregnant." I say
"It's gonna be okay." He says rubbing my back
"I'm not scared..I just hope she hasn't changed with her husband's family around her so much.." I say looking at the floor
My sister got together with a guy she met in college
His family owns fancy ranches
Basically he's rich..
His mother is snobby with me
But I don't deal with them anymore
Since she moved to Utah when he bought a ranch for her & their 5 year old son
she's expecting a girl this time
I rush as I notice
She texted me 30 minutes ago saying she'll arrive in a hour
I yell
"Mom come downstairs now cmon move it move it" I say
~30 minutes later~
We're at the airport at the gate
I'm tapping my foot impatiently
All of sudden i hear the wheels of the luggage getting closer to me
It gets closer & i see Janella running down the airport hallway
i run towards her
we're about to hug
when we bump heads
i groan rubbing my head
"hi Ella!" i say hugging her finally
"hi.." she says
i rub her huge belly
"hi princess." i say rubbing it
i feel two small hands gripping my leg
i look down to see Alex
"hi babyboy!" i say lifting him up
"hi auntie" his small voice says
i ruffle his sandy blonde hair up
"lets go guys where's Mark?" i ask referring to my brother in law
"on a business trip" she says smiling
"ohh okay" i say helping her with her bags
~11pm~
I'm laying down in bed while Nate takes a shower
i hear moans of pain downstairs
i walk down the stairs slowly
i find Janella clutching her belly & screaming in pain
"omg janella!" i say
i run to her
"my water broke i need to go to the hospital" she says moaning
i grab her baby bag
i rush upstairs
i put on a hoodie
i rush Nate out of the bathroom
we walk downstairs dressed & ready
my parents start up the car
we all climb in
I start up the engine
I pull out of the driveway
I hear my sister
"Omg I'm sorry you had to meet your future sister in law like this." She says in tears
"Um..sis.."
"It's okay sis.." He says rubbing her back
I raise a eyebrow
He isn't my boyfriend...unless...HE LIKES ME!?
My nerve act up & I swerve a little
I continue driving & arrive at the Hospital just in time
She gets rushed in by nurses
I wait outside in the waiting room
I sit down & I curl up in a ball
I look at myself in the front screen of my phone
I hide my face with my hands
"Hey are you okay?" Nate asks me
"Yeah." I say in barely a whisper
Why screw up
what we have so far
over some stupid feelings?
"I'm gonna be here for you Lynn I'm gonna be the bestest friend you'll ever have." He says
The word "friend" never sounded so sad coming out of his mouth
Knowing the fact
I'm forever stuck in the friend zone
makes me sad inside
"Hello? Family of Janella Henderson?" A nurse says to me
"Yes! Is she okay?"
"She's not dilated enough for delivery yet but she's halfway already..so far everything looks good..she's a fighter..I just called her husband & he's flying in a couple of hours"
I know if I had a baby
I would have the father of my child be there with me
while I'm delivering the baby
Like holding my hand & helping me out
I sigh & I sit back down
~the next day~
I haven't slept in 24 hours
since we last heard from the nurse
Mark came to the hospital thank god.
My eyes get sleepy
I hear my sister moaning in pain loudly
Nate holds me in his arms & I lay on his chest
I hear infant cries
I run to the front desk
"Omg I hear my baby niece let me in please!" I say
The triage nurse rolls her eyes
"You can wait." She says scoffing
"Please I've been here for 36 hours."
"No sit down you whiny princess." She says rudely smirking
My mom slams her fist on the desk
"i demand you let us in..we're family of that new baby girl in there..i will sue this hospital..& you'll be fired" she says pissed off
"please let in family of Janella Henderson." the nurse says nervously in the mic
the doors open
my mom throws the neat piles of paper
All of the papers fall on the ground
"pick it up." she says & we walk in
~in the room~
i smile looking down at my beautiful niece
she has sandy blonde hair like her brother
crystal blue eyes like the ocean
rosy cheeks
with a chubby frame of body to her which looks adorable
"whats her name?" i ask Janella
"Ella-Mae" she says
"you put the last part of your own name in your daughter's name." i say giggling
"yeah.." she says giggling
she goes to pee in the bathroom
my parents fell asleep
after spending time with Ella
Mark & Alex are passed out asleep as well
Nate sits on the hospital bed with me
"she looks like you & your sister." he says
i blush
"I'm not blonde neither is Janella." i say
"doesn't matter..the face looks the same." he says rubbing her tiny chubby cheeks
i giggle & i kiss her tiny forehead
"you would be a great mom." he says
i blush but i freeze
did he just say that?
i put the baby in her nursery
i sit back down
me & Nate chat a little & end up laughing
he leans in closer to me
I get tensed up
"Relax.."
He presses his lips on mine & I kiss him back
It's about to get heated when my sister interrupts
"Whoa! Damn!" She says waking everyone up
I move away & I look at Nate
"Well..I'm gonna go home now..i got work tomorrow." I say grabbing my stuff hurriedly
Nate tries to stop me
"I'm sorry" he mouths
I shake my head
I walk down the hospital hallway leading to the large doors
"Lynn I'm sorry I didn't mean to kiss you" he says grabbing my waist
"What is this? Are we friends or we more than that? Explain to me what are we?" I say confused at the moment
"We are-"
"Cmon honey lets go rest at home." My mom says walking up to me
I nod & I frown at Nate
"Are you okay Hun?" My mom asks in front of Nate & me
"Yes." I lie & grab her hand
He sighs
"Please" he mouths
I turn around & I walk away
He can't play with my emotions like that..
