Her anger soared through the Heavens. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Gods and Goddesses spoke to her and told her to be calm so that their peaceful place wouldn't be disturbed by her negative energy. She could not help it.
Mates. They never existed in her mind, in her world. They were only wishful thinking once when she was young and hadn't known better. Then, she grew up and had been told that she did not possess to have such a thing. She did not deserve to have one and they did not deserve to have a monster to be their better half.
Yet, here she stood—absolutely detesting that the male across from her smelled incredible, her patience wearing thin with these four people who were staying silent and have not acknowledged the bigger elephant in the room
Her eyes shifted towards the shadowed corner of the throne room. The robe tied around her neck was similar to the one that was standing there. Same build, same height, same face... but different eyes.
Great.
Her hazel ones met bloody red ones, the same color as their robe. The other had her fangs drawn with blood and saliva dripping down from it, landing on her chin, and down on the ground.
The shivers that ran down her spine caused her to look away, suddenly aware once more that they were looking where she was and saw no one standing there. She sighed in irritation, knowing what the shadow inside her wanted. Lifting up her hands, she pulled the hood away from her face, letting be seen by the so-called mate she apparently had.

Elias could only watch as the brown hair blending into red spilled from her sides. She was astonishingly breathtaking. Her eyes were of hazel, though they were more brown rather than green. His lycan called out to her, wanting to touch but he knew not to again. The last time he did, she moved away.
The thin small nose she had crinkled for a second, brows drawing closer as her pink small lips curled into a smirk. Her head tilted towards him, an expression of mischievousness in her face. "What's wrong, Alpha? Claws got your tongue?"
Rolling her eyes, she pouted. "You're no fun," her eyes moved to the Beta who was also standing and looking at her as if she had two heads. Elias could only watch as her face had gone from entertained to impatient the next. "You speak then, lycan. I have no time to spare with us looking at one another."
His beta nodded. "We are garnering men and women for war against him. If he gets too powerful, he'll wipe us all out. We need your help because... you're the Blood Hunter. And we also know that you could use allies right now considering you're still being hunted by his men."
"For a prize that none of us know about," she replied, blowing out a breath in frustration. He had heard of the price that the murderer was seeking. Everyone did. They didn't know what it looked like nor did they know what it did.
There were rumors that it was a way to get stronger or to gain new abilities that one species does not offer. And so, everyone hunted for the Blood Hunter because they all seemed to have deduced that because Joseph Victor was looking for her, she was the key to this 'prize.'
He didn't care about the price. He did, but not anymore. Not since landing his eyes on her. She was his mate.
And the underworld would freeze over first before he let her go.
🏹
Her fingers drummed over the base of her bow. Without saying anything to the two lycans, she turned to the two royals who were merely observing them with amusement in their eyes.
They think it's funny that I have a mate.
How childish. And it truly is an insult towards them considering she acted childish most of the time when she wasn't killing.
"Don't call me again," she addressed both of them, politeness thrown out of the window. The two royals merely gazed at her, knowing that even if they were older than her and more experienced with war, they would not be able to handle her. No matter their rankings and power, it would not bode well at all to anger her. "I will not answer this time. Solve your problems on your own. Also, get some seasoning more on your food. It tastes too bland. Goodbye."
A step towards the door of the throne room and she's already been blocked. Her eyes lifted up to meet the blue eyes that held no emotions in them. Her hand lifted, ready to push him off but she stopped.
Skin contact would strengthen the bond and she didn't need that. She didn't need him.
She had to go back. She had a life, a reason to not be stuck with a mate.
"Lives of people are at stake here," the Alpha finally spoke, his voice had the same urgency as a while ago but less anger in them. "And let us face it, you are a weapon made for destruction. Up until a century ago, you would have wiped us all out without breaking a sweat. You are the only thing that could kill him."
Her eyes narrowed, her lips curled upwards into a snarl. She had not run for years away from them, only to get near and possibly get the man who took from her. The Underworld would freeze over first before she lets him take more—everything—from her. "It's nice that you think I'm the only one who can kill a designed killing machine who is a psychopath filled with nothing but greed for power but sorry to burst your bubble, there's a reason why no one hasn't been able to kill him or at least trap him; it's because he's much more powerful than us. If you want to go on a suicide mission, feel free to do so but I will not participate. Don't even try to follow me or touch me, you wouldn't like the consequences."
Once she had stepped aside and went around him, he scoffed but she paid no mind until his own beta spoke out of turn. "I didn't think you would be such a coward. The Blood Hunter. The one destined to be my Alpha's other half."
She chuckled, showing how much it didn't affect her even if the beta continued what was supposed to be insults. "I'm not a coward because if I was, I would have run the second I knew a bunch of lycans were looking for me. I simply am what you people aren't—smart. He has been alive longer than anyone else and he has power and strength that no one can take on. If you think you'd defeat him even with me on your side, you're stupid and reckless." Her head turned halfway to her shoulder, her eye meeting the two lycans in her presence. "Destiny is nothing but a myth and so are mates. You cannot use that statement to use reverse psychology on me. I'm not so easily duped."
"You're no better than the serial murderer himself if you walk away, Luna."
She knew that he had used that title to agitate her even more but she only smiled, a plain cruel smile on her face. "Perhaps. I have, after all, killed as many supernatural beings as he did—maybe even more—throughout the years I had been alive."
With that, she walked out of the castle.
