Divergent High: Our Last Year

Chapter 2

Tris pov

"Tris honey Dr.Lucy says she wants to speak with us in her office so get ready so we can go" my mom says walking into my room

"Tobias was going to come over in a few minutes" I whine.

"Ask him if he wants to come with us" my mom says

"Okay" I squeal grabbing my phone

"Just be ready by the time he gets here" she says then walks out of my room.

I grab my phone and text Tobias if he wants to come with us. Of course he agrees.

I put my phone down on the table next to my bed and run to my shower to clean up real quick.

I grab a random shirt out of my dresser and put on a pair of jeans. I put my converse on and brush my hair out. Then I realize I don't want it all in my face so I pull it back into a ponytail.

I hear the door open and run downstairs to see if it's Tobias. By the time I reach the bottom I'm out of breath. I hold onto the railing and try to catch it.

"Are you okay" Tobias says rubbing my back.

"I'm fine. I'm just happy to see you. I missed you" I say wrapping my arms around his neck and he lifts me off of the steps and spins me around.

"I missed you too" he says pecking my lips

"How was school" I says and he sets me back on the floor.

"Boring" he says and I giggle.

"Ready to go" my mom says and I nod.

So we all walk to my moms car. Tobias and I sit in the back. I lay on him and try to breathe. I don't know why but it's just so much harder to breath now a days.

We sit in Dr.Lucys office and wait for her to come in and talk to us.

There's a knock at the door then Dr.Lucy walks in.

"Hello everyone" she says

"It's nice to see you too again" she says referring to me and my mom.

"Who's this" she ask pointing to Tobias.

"Tobias" Tobias says pointing his hand out so Dr.Lucy can shake it.

"He's my boyfriend" I say

"Well hello nice to meet you. I'm Dr.Lucy" she says shaking Tobias hand then going to her desk and opening a file that has my name on it.

"Okay so I looked at your scans and blood work. I did find some things" she says

"Is it bad" my mom says

"Okay Tris you have cancer" she says and my mom gasp starting to cry. Tobias grabs my hand and squeezes it.

"What kind of cancer is it" I say

"Lung cancer" she says and I nod looking down at my shoes.

"So what can we do to start treating this" my mom says

"We will start her on chemo in about a week. Then we will go from there" Dr.Lucy says

"Just letting you know that the chemo can be brutal. Emotionally and physically." She adds

"I understand" I say

"What about her breathing. She can barely walk down the stairs with out having to catch her breathe" my mom says

"I was just about to get to that. I will send you home with an oxygen tank to help with the breathing. You can use it whenever you feel out of breathe at home but if you go out somewhere you have to keep it on the whole time and you have to sleep with it on. Like when you leave my office I want you on with it" Dr.Lucy says to me.
