CHAPTER SIX

"Jamie, what are-"

I don't have time to complete my question before Jamie pulls me towards her. Our lips meet. From the corner of my eye, I see Lucien and his Alpha staring at us. Lucien's gaping at Jamie's actions whereas Auden stares on with nothing more than a simple smirk. I can almost hear Jamie's silent message, play along! Play along! Forcing myself to do exactly that, I close my eyes.

When we part, Jamie's cheeks are flushed as she breathes heavily. I'm guessing I look the same. Before I can comprehend, a hand pulls Jamie to the side. Lucien. He takes her away but not before shooting me a silent glare that says 'Stay where you are.' I listen to him merely because I don't want to cause another scene by going after Jamie.

Auden comes to my side.

My skin prickles at his closeness. I don't know what it is about him that makes me so uncomfortable. Does he know who am I? Does he remember me? Does he know I'm a demon? So many questions. And I can't even hope for answers without repercussions. Swallowing, I take a step to the right. Need to get away! I take another step. Another. A hand grabs my arm, pulling me to the same spot I was before. Damn it! "Running away?" Auden asks.

I haven't forgotten his voice.

'Give me the damn blood!'

'I need to save her!"

With a shudder, I remember his voice from that night.

"No..." I trail. I can feel Auden's eyes on me. "Come." He orders. Something about him commands me to obey. To follow. So I follow him. "How's your stay?" He questions. "Fine..." Until today. I swallow again. "You must not like me very much." Auden's abrupt comment scares me. "Um, I...I...don't understand." I'm unsure. What should I say? Will he get angry? Because it is true. I'm not exactly fond of him. I'd fantasized about him, thought of him as my hero, but after meeting him, I got more of a villain vibe from him. He's changed. He's not the same as before. "It's because of me that your lover is now rouge...you must hate me, Alexa..." Lover, I internally snort. He remembers my name as well. Astonishing. I hear amusement in his voice. Does he want me to hate him? I debate on what to say.

"I don't hate you," I say at last.

Auden only nods. But then I see his lips twitch up for a minuscule of a second before it's gone. "That's...good." He says. I suck in a breath. Jamie's trapped between Lucien and the wall in the empty alley as he whispers in her ear. Her cheeks are flaming. Her chest is heaving up and down. I feel sad for the poor girl. No matter how strong she behaves, I know Jamie's quite innocent on the inside. I don't tune into their conversation because I'm sure I won't like what I hear. However, Auden doesn't waste any time in eavesdropping. I see another smirk arising so I tug his arm, breaking his concentration. He glances at me. "Let's go." I pull him away.

"Funny, I thought you feared me," Auden says as I let go of his arm. I pause, "I do..." Auden, who'd, walked in front of me, looked back. He doesn't say anything. I don't expect him to. "I heard you're also in a relationship with another pack member of mine." I glare at him. "I don't know what you're talking about. Also, Jamie's not your pack member anymore." Auden scoffs, "Nevertheless, I'm still Gareth's Alpha." So he knows about Gareth.

I grit my teeth. "My relationships are none of your concern." This time, Auden grits his teeth. "It is my concern when the person you decide to fool around with is a part of my pack." I clench my fists. "First of all, we're not fooling around and second, though he might be a part of your pack, whom he dates is still none of your concern." He's angry. Oh god. "But you still are involved with two wolves." I inhale deeply. "Like I said, it's none of your business."

He grabs my arm, turning me around, "Answer to me!" His eyes are blazing with fury, unable to handle my feigned ignorance. "Let...me...go..." I manage out, fear taking over me. Auden pulls me close and then backs me up. I remember how Lucien had trapped Jamie. I'm guessing we were in the same position now. However, unlike Lucien, Auden doesn't sensually whisper in my ear or make me gasp for breath.

He growls, lowly and scarily, "Next time you appear ignorant in front of me will be the last time you roam these streets freely." I'm confused. What does he mean by that? Is he going to trap me somewhere if I defy him again? Stupid wolf. I guess he really doesn't know I'm a demon. If he did, he'd know that no matter how many times he tried to trap me, I could trace away that instant. But it doesn't change the fact that I am a little terrified by him.

"So remember, always treat an Alpha with respect."

With that, Auden leaves.

"Lucien, that jerk." Jamie huffs. I attempt a smile. Forget what happened before, Alexa. Forget. "I'll kill him next time!" She growls. "Really? Cause you looked pretty comfortable back then." Her cheeks flush. "Ah, you saw that?" I nod. "Anyways, what were you and Auden talking about?" She asks curiously. "I don't know about being a monster, but he sure is irritating." She laughs. "So does this mean that you both are okay now?" I question referring to Lucien and her. She shakes her head, "Not at all! I can't stand his presence. Oaf thinks that cornering me and whispering dirty shit is going to get me all hot and bothered for him. As if!" I suppress a smirk. "But he did get you all hot and bothered for him..." Jamie screams in frustration.

"Stop knowing everything!" She walks away.

I go after her with a laugh.

"Grandma!"

"That girl is bringing nothing but trouble!" Grandma curses Jamie. "That girl has nowhere else to go! Please!" I beg. "I forbade you from speaking to them. I told you that they weren't any good!" Grandma screams. "If you'll just lis-" I'm cut off. "You don't know what they are." My shoulders sag. "I do," I whisper. "What?" Meeting her chilling stare, I repeat, "I do."

"Then its all the more reason never to interact with them," Grandma whispers before leaving.

"Your grandma looks angry," Jamie says. "Jamie I'm –" Jamie holds up a finger. "I think it's time for me to move..." I exhale. "You don't need to. Grandma's just pissed off that I spoke to your Alpha. Apparently, she thinks he's a monster as well." I say.

Jamie nods.

I take the key to the shop from my angry grandma who sits by the fireplace. She doesn't move or make a sound. Without another word, I leave with Jamie. A silent message passed between my grandma and me at that moment by the fireplace when we stared into each other's eyes. Let that girl go, she commands. I pass her a message that has her fuming further.
