Silently I breathed in, and then out. Desperately trying not to be silent, for if I was heard...that was the end. The only thing I could hear now was deafening silence and the soft whispers of a wind chime hanging on the shack, but I knew it was it was there. It was waiting for me.

"Rez...",I called out softly. The bakeneco appeared in front of me, and his electric blue eyes stared in to mine and a silent message was passed between us. Ever so carefully I dragged my foot through the dirt and shifted it underneath me, I leaned on to my hands like an Olympic runner and breathed out gathering my courage.

I shot off like a bullet. I could feel the pounding of my feet thrumming through my body. Rez was right beside me, gracefully slicing through the air as he sprinted with leaps and bounds. An unearthly screech shook me to my core and made my ears bleed, but I didn't stop, because that would leave me dead.

A small gray shack appeared in the distance, and I pushed myself to go faster. My muscles stretched painfully as I raced towards the door. Pain erupted through my shoulder and I stumbled, screaming as my face met the hard packed earth. Above me a snarled ripped through the air and two giant clawed paws slammed beside my head sending up a cloud of dirt. Screaming I threw my hands across my face and Rez tumbled into the monsters side sending him careening off of me.

I scrambled back up, clutching my shoulder and shot through the door of the shack, slamming it shut. Frantically I searched for something to hold the door shut, anything would do, but there was nothing. There was a loud bang and I whipped around. It was there. With a shriek I slammed myself into the door shutting it on the the thing. Tears streamed down my face as the hard, splintered wood pressed into the bloody gash on my shoulder. A small whimper escaped my lips, and growl erupted from the other side of the door. suddenly the pressure on the door disappeared and it swung open throwing me to the ground as it gave way. I curled up in to a fetal position ,but...nothing happened. It was quite. I couldn't even hear the wind chimes. Slowly I got up and looked around, but again...there was nothing. Leaping up I ran, my heart thundering in my chest and I stopped on the edge of the lawn.I closed my eyes and listened. A harsh scream ripped through the air suddenly and my eyes flashed open. Right in front of me Rez and that monster were rolling in the dirt and snarling with their teeth bared. Rez was suddenly much bigger and more feral looking and his eyes glinted.

Rez was suddenly thrown across the field and I screamed as the monster turned towards me, but Rez was suddenly at his throat, clawing at his back. He was tossed at my feet and he tried to stand but fell back down clumsily. Crying out I jumped out in front of him as the monster advanced on us.

I was angry and the world was tinged In red as something seemed to take ahold of my body. I swung out at the monster and it backed up. Taking a giant leap I launched myself over its head, snagging one of its horns and holding on for dear life. Swinging my legs up I wrapped them around its throat and yanked his head sharply to the right. My back was slammed into the shed and I groaned as it continued to smash me in to the wall. Its claws torn into my leg as it tried to yank me off and my free hand brushed up against a large chain hanging on the wall. I wrapped my hand in it and let the momentum of the monster dragging itself forward to slam me back into the wall pull the chain free. I yanked the chain around its neck and squeezed for dear life. My sight was starting to blacken from the constant abuse but the monster slowed and finally collapsed into the ground throwing me forward into the dirt.

I painfully picked myself up and limped towards Rez and when I saw him I knew he wasn't going to make it. Crying out I sank to the ground, and sank my hand into his fur and lifted his head into my lap. I rocked back and forth, stroking his fur, "Rez...I'm so sorry" I said brokenly. His vibrant blue eyes looked up at me and his two tails swished up to my face, drying the tears spilling from eyes. I knew what he wanted. Painfully my mouth turned up into a smile, but my lips trembled slightly. "See ? I'm smiling. Don't worry about me anymore, I'll be okay. Thank you for saving me.", Rezs body shook as he drug he paw to the inside of my arm, leaving a small blue moon there. This was his last gift. His body gave off a soft glow and then dispersed into soft golden bubbles of light. "Rez...Rez...REZ!",I wailed, then everything went black.
