The next afternoon...
Soft blankets drape over me, my legs and upper back exposed. I feel the soft mattress laying beneath me. I flutter my eyes open only to look at the dark claustrophobic closet. I keep quiet when I hear talking happening in the room outside of the closet I'm in.
"Dad, I just wanted to get out for a while! I wanted to leave! Easton has nothing to do with it." Jenny says to her father. Dean is here.
I sit up and look around for a weapon to use. I grab one of the metal hangars and make it pointy. It's not going to do nothing but if I stab him in the right place, let's just say there'll be a lot of blood. I take deep breathes and wait for the right moment to jump out. He turns his back and Easton starts defending himself and Jenny. I try to push open the closet but the doors wouldn't budge. It's locked from the outside. I silently groan and try to open the door. Pain shoots through me again and I wince, letting a small gasp escape my mouth.
"What was that?" Dean's deep voice speaks. I clasps my hand over my mouth and press my back hard against the wall. Dean looks around the room and I try my best not to move. We lock eyes but he doesn't seem to notice me. I turns around and he looks Easton in the eyes again.
"Well son, you're in charge while I go into town for a short period of time. If the girl comes around be sure to call me right away." Dean says as he hands keys over to Easton. Easton nods his head and takes the keys from his hand.
Once the door closes, I shake the door of the closet.
"Let me out, Easton!" I scream as Jenny holds the door closed and Easton unlocks it. Once the doors open, I bust through and tackle Easton to the ground. I fall on top of him and hold his throat.
"Why did you lock me in the closet? I could've killed him!" I yelled Easton pushes me off of him. I stand up and send death glares at him. I limp towards the closes wall and Len against it. My legs are throbbing and my feet hurt. Easton holds Jenny behind him and they stare at me as if they were... Scared?
I look away from them and walk towards the door. Easton cuts me off by standing in front of me. He looks down at me, eyes full of lust. All I can do is stare back into his dark green eyes. Why is so intruding? How does he still have this effect on me? He could've killed me and here I am, taking in the beauty of his eyes and face. His torso, the way I could wrap my arms around him. His back, where my scratch marks could be. Wait. I can't think like this. What am I doing?
The door handle wiggles and Easton pushes me towards the closet. I found myself listening to him and standing in the closet. He shuts the door but doesn't lock it. He looks at me before turning around and opening the door. A beautiful middle aged women walks in, she holds a basket in her hand. Her long black hair with a few grey strands sits on her shoulders and flow down to her belly button. Her smile brightens the room and she looks towards the closet. She motions me to come out and Easton closes the door behind her. Jenny opens the closet for me and I hesitantly walk out.
Who is this women? She kind of resembles Jenny, but there's a little bit of Easton in her too. Is it their mother? I drop the hangar the I forgot I had in my hand in the closet. She greets me with a smile and reaches her hand out towards me.
"You must be Ashtyn. It's so good to finally meet you. My name is Teneesha Keller. Easton and Jenny's biological mother." She says. She has an American accent. Is it just a game? Is she hiding her real accent like Jenny did? I shake her hand and weakly smile at her.
"Yes, I'm Ashtyn Cook." I tell her with a small smile. Is Teneesha capable of murder like Dean? She doesn't look like it but Easton doesn't look like he would hurt a fly. Meeting his biological mom must mean that I'm going to be dead in a few hours now. She's going to tell Dean and then he'll have his whole team to torture me, one by one.
I don't know why I'm being nice to her. She has that effect on me. Like, I feel like I can trust her but my head is telling me not too. Teneesha walks towards the table in the middle of the room. She sits the basket on the table and opens it. She pulls out sandwiches, pop, chips, fruit, water, and carrots. Easton and Jenny walk towards her and grab themselves something to eat. I feel my stomach grumble as I stare at the food in front of me. I notice Teneesha looking at me, smiling again.
"Ashtyn, you're starving. Eat." She says and grabs me a sandwich with some chips. I take the plate and thank her before she hands me a Pepsi. I smile and thank her again before walking towards a chair and sitting on it. I take a bite out of the sandwich. I never tasted a better sandwich in my life. The chips, salt and vinegar are delicious every crunch. The Pepsi tastes like it's just been made and pulled out of the fridge. Everything tastes so good and I found myself getting up for carrots and the fruit.
"I'll be right back. I just have to go get something." Teneesha says and Easton looks up at her. I can't see Teneesha's face but I know something's up. I hurry and eat the rest of the food on my plate and I chug the Pepsi before tossing everything in the garbage.
I know things like this don't last long. Something's up and I need to find out why.
A few minutes go by and Teneesha comes back. Xzauni in her arms. I'm standing before her in less than a second. I take my brother out of her arms and hug him tight. He squirms against me and I can hear him whining. I kiss his cheek and look at him. He's gotten so big the past two days I was gone. His eyes changed colour, they're now a greyish colour. I softly run my fingers around his face, feeling his soft skin beneath them.
"You need to leave. Carlos is waiting for you in Michigan." I hold Xzauni closer towards me. I look at her and she smiles at me.
"Dean will be back shortly. I suggest you leave now." I nod my head and walk out the door. I run towards Xzauni's room and grab everything that I can. I grab his car seat and run towards the garage. People watch me but I keep my face hidden in Xzauni.
I open the doors to Carlos's huge black monster looking truck. I toss everything in and I hold Xzauni on my lap as I speed out of there.
Michigan. It's a far drive but I think we'll make it.
My phone rings in my pocket and I answer it without looking at it.
"The baby should be in a car seat Ashtyn." Dean says through the phone. I look around and there's a lot of cars going by. There's one that stands out though. I see a girl with a blind fold in the passenger seat. Isabella.
"Go to Young's Warehouse. If you don't I will not hesitate to kill you and your family." He hangs up and I watch as he holds a knife to Isabella's neck as I drive by. I look down at Xzauni and he's smiling back at me.
Like I said, things like this don't last long.
