Chapter 2
Tuesday went fast. It literally flew past me, not giving me time to catch up with it. The same meaningless gossip flew around school about the new boy, Nick.
“He’s supposedly really handsome.”
“A total brainiac.”
“He hasn’t got a girlfriend, thank goodness.”
The poor boy won’t be able to keep up at this school.
Soon it was Wednesday, the day when we all would meet the mysterious Nick.
I quickly got a shower in the morning and rushed through breakfast, I was already late for school. My mom looked me up and down before I left, making sure I looked suitable. I was wearing my favourite pair of black skinnies, a strappy top and my leather jacket. My hair was in loose curls down my back and for my make-up I was going for the smokey eye look.
“You look nice honey, anything special happening at school today? Did you meet a boy?” She raised her eyebrows.
“Sure mom, I met a boy… a pretty nice boy actually… well he’s not actually a boy, he’s a man, he’s 75, he’s married and has 5 children and we’re in love.” I nodded.
“Get out of here before you give me a heart attack.” Mom laughed.
I ran out the door and jumped into my car. I drove to school quickly, wanting to meet my friends before the bell went. As soon as I saw the flock of giggling girls standing by the school gate, I knew the new kid had arrived.
Trying to get a parking space was impossible. I found a space and was about to drive into it when Vanessa Hill and two of her followers plus a girl I didn’t recognise decided to step out in front of my car. I slammed on the breaks and beeped my horn.
“Next time you do that I’ll run you over, bitch!” I yelled out my window at Vanessa.
“Ooh I’m so scared.” She smirked.
That’s it; I thought as I shifted gear, I’ve had enough of her for one day. I stepped down harshly on the pedal and my car went forward, and I quickly braked a centimetre away from them. They all jumped back in surprise, Vanessa looked livid.
“You moron! You could have hit us!” she yelled at me.
“I would have hit you the first time, now get out the way of my car!” I yelled back.
They all scurried away quickly and I parked my car, thanking the heavens that I didn’t have it in me to run someone over because Vanessa would have just been my first victim.
I got out the car and slammed the door shut.
“Now, now, it’s not the cars fault.” A familiar voice said from behind me. I whirled around, ready to yell at whoever it was who dared speak to me when I was in such a bad move, but all those bad thoughts went away when I looked at the person standing behind me.
“Tom.” I sighed happily and went to give him a hug. I was welcomed into his arms and I smiled gladly.
“What’s up, munchkin?” he asked.
