Chapter 8
I finally got home from the police station at around 11pm. My friends were waiting at my house for me to come home so they could see how I was. I was still shaky and I couldn’t shake myself of the images, but I was convinced that I was going to be fine.
Tom came over and greeted me with a hug as soon as I stepped in the door. She squeezed me tight and seemed to not want to let go which was fine by me, I needed the comfort.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again!” Tom scolded me as we pulled apart.
“I scared myself.” I laughed meekly.
“Yeah, but you got us the rest of the week off so thanks!” Hunter high5’d me.
We all went into the living room and sat down. I had to tell them more than ten times that I was fine before they started to believe it.
“Do you guys want to stay over? You can stay in Ebony’s room, it’s big enough. We’ll lay some blankets and pillows on the floor and order some pizza in for you all.” My mom smiled warmly from the doorway.
“Thanks mom, do you guys wanna stay?” I opened the invitation out to all of them, even Nick, Ivy and Gabriel.
“Are you sure you don’t mind?” Tom asked my mom.
“Not at all, I think Ebony needs her friends and all the comfort she can get tonight. It’s been a long day.” My mom smiled.
“Then yeah, I’ll stay, who else is staying?” Tom asked everybody else.
Everybody else nodded in agreement and my mom went to lay some quilts and pillows on the floor upstairs, telling me to order a pizza while she was making my room ready.
“What pizza do you guys want?” I asked them.
They all said their replies and I ordered the pizza. Half an hour later we were sat in my room eating the pizza and laughing like normal teenagers. But I was still feeling anything but normal.
“So Ebs, what was it like?” Allie asked me.
“Allie! Don’t bring it up!” Tom exclaimed.
Allie was referring to the whole kidnapping thing, she was just curious but I felt my chest tighten because of it. Tom put his arm around my shoulder and whispered in my ear, “You don’t have to say anything.”
“No, it’s okay,” I swallowed, “I’ll talk about it.” I said.
“Oh gosh, I’m sorry Ebony, you don’t have to…” Allie apologised.
“It just reminded me of what wonderful friends I have.” I cut her off.
“Well, we’ll always be here for you.” Allie grinned.
“Thanks.” I smiled.
“Now, I have a film that we can watch, and it’s your favourite.” Allie smiled whilst grabbing her bag and pulling out my all-time favourite film; Moulin Rouge.
“Yay! Thank you Allie! I could use this film to make me feel better!” I grinned appreciatively.
The guys all groaned whilst Allie put it in the DVD slot.
