I managed to shimmy through the bathroom window in time to catch Anya and just about every student leaving for the end of the day.

"Hey, there you are. I didn't think you'd make it back in time"

"Kelsey wanted me to stay. I almost didn't make it back at all" the warm breeze hit me as the crowd shuffled out of the now open doors.

"You and you're double life" she teased.

"It's not-"

"Don't move" she interrupted with a sudden smile causing me to stop still in my tracks and almost fall down the steps.

"What?"

"Don't. Move. Act. Natural"

"What!"

"Hottie with a body, six o'clock"

"Ooh" I turned slowly and scanned the general area "I don't see anyone"

"Are you kidding?"

"I just see the bodyguards" I said bitterly my eyes glossing over Barbosa and the bodyguards of other kids.

"It is one of the bodyguards"

"Which one?" I asked.

"The tall one"

"They're all tall"

"The muscular one"

"They're all muscular"

"That one" she pointed her head in the direction of one of the bodyguards.

I followed her gaze right to Barbosa "my one?"

"Your one?"

"My new and annoying one to be exact" I resumed our walk down the stairs.

"Your hot one you mean"

"He is not hot. He's infuriating"

"Don't pretend he's not fuckable"

I shushed her as we walked over to the limo were Barbosa stood holding my door open.

"Barbosa" I greeted him smugly earning a nod in response "you can go now Anya"

"Bye Tori" she giggled and batted her eyelashes "I'll see you tomorrow" she walked away making sure to swing her hips as she walked. I smirked at her attempt to get Barbosa's attention before climbing in the back.

...

"So how do you like you're new guard" my father asked from across the table. I shrugged. He's been working her for a month now and still doesn't speak. Even that one time I tried to stab him in the limo I didn't get than a grunt as he expertly disarmed me with just his free hand.

"Use your words Theresa"

"Mhm" I groaned wishing I was anywhere but here.

"Well that's good because I have some news" we never actually ate as a family unless my dad had some sort of announcement so it didn't surprise me when he said that. "He has proven his worth and is off his probation. He will be a part of the permanent squad now so we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the house except of course when he's seeing to you, Theresa"

"Yay" I mumbled. I wasn't exactly happy with the news. I'd grown quite tired of Barbosa and his silence and couldn't imagine the situation becoming any better.
