Twenty-one

Hey guys!  I know I said that I would update a lot sooner than what I have been, basically, my mom grounded me, which also means I can’t update at home, which means I will be doing all my updating at school.

This is the second to last chapter guys! Everything is coming together. I hope you like what’s coming next

NORMANI

I kiss Camila softly on the lips, then get out of bed and answered the call; picking up Camila’s robe and sliding it on as I go.

“Hello?”

“Hi Mani” Lauren’s voice says and for the first time I realized how much I missed hearing it.

“Lauren, hi”

A silence hits the phone, long and full of tension.

“OK the reason I’m calling is to say I’m sorry. I’m so sorry Normani, I should’ve called you sooner. I should’ve said sorry early. I’m sorry I told Simon about your relationship with Camz, I’m sorry, don’t think I didn’t have feelings for you because I did, but they just weren’t as strong as the ones I had for Camila.”

“I understand that, you guys had… something”

Lauren sighed “It’s just, I got so upset when everything happened and then the Wiki page and all that. I pushed her away and I got more than a little upset when she went running to you.”

“Um, she didn’t run anywhere”

“Hey, hey, that’s not what I meant. It’s just, me not spending time with Camila made her start hanging out with you. She lost feelings for me and gained feelings for you.”

I nodded “You’re right.”

“I can tell you’re getting all defensive, but basically I’m just trying to say I’m sorry OK? I feel bad, our band could be done for just because I got really jealous. And I know you’re dating her now and I know you love her and I’m going through the process of accepting that. As long as you make her happy, I’m not going to pull anymore bullshit and I’m going to try to get our band back together. OK?”

I nod again “Thank you for understanding Lauren… I missed you, I missed us being friends.”

“I know, my pride got in the way.”

I let out a breathy laugh “Mine did too.”

“Damn, I wish I was there. This would be the time we hug and and make sure we’re OK.”

“We are OK Lauren, were friends.”

“I’m glad we are, I know that I was being an awful person and I’m glad you can forgive me maybe I can come fly out and visit next week.”

I smile “That would be fantastic, really.”

“Cool, maybe on-“there was a crashing sound “OHMYGOD TAYLOR I’M GONNA KILL YOU! Hey, sorry… looks like I got to go. I’ll call you soon OK?”

“Yeah, yeah, cool.”

We say our goodbyes and hang up, staring at the phone, not everything is fixed and it may be hard for us to go back to being the best friends that we were but this is progress, progress is enough. So I sigh and leave my phone out and make my way back to the bedroom where Camila is waiting for me.

As soon as I walk in the room I realize it reeks of sex, sweat, and the temperature has to be 10 degrees higher than it is outside of the bedroom.

But there is Camila laying down eyes closed her lips are still swollen, her cheeks hold a soft blush and she looks so peaceful with the blankets wrapped around her I smile, she’s the most beautiful creature I have ever witnessed.
