When I open my eyes I am forced to shut them again. I know it is not even close to morning, it's probably midnight. I allow myself to lean to my right to see an old alarm clock that has been sitting in the same spot it has since my father made it 17 years ago.
2:00 am
11 hours until the reaping.
11 hours until one boy and one girl from the ages 12-18 will be chosen from all 12 Districts.
11 hours until the Capitol will get their yearly entertainment.
11 hours until the Capitol gets the best of us, again.

I wake up once more at 5 and decide to stay awake because I don't want to go through the nightmares again. I sit up in my bed looking from side to side. On one side lays my 9 year old sister, Serenity. On the other side my older brother who is asleep, snoring as usual.
Dean Mason. The Victor of The 64th Hunger Games.
He won when I was 11.
I will never forget watching him get trampled by the beasts the GameMakers sent after him. How he fought the ghastly battles. How he dodged the knives, arrows, axes, and swords of the other tributes.
It came down to him and the girl from District 1. District 6 hardly ever sees this, a tribute from District 6 hardly ever makes it to The Finale. He was severely wounded in a recent battle with the boy from 2, the boy's name was Slant. Everyone thought he would win. He came in 4th. Dean killed him. Dean took his axe and threw it right into his chest. Deathblow. He was gone.
The GameMakers brought the final 3 tributes together by a wild fire that filled the arena, the only place that wasn't burning was the cornucopia. The girl from District 7 had gotten severely burned.
District 1
District 6
District 7
You actually hardly ever see District 6 or 7 in The Finale. This was a unforgettable games.
District 7 was taken out easily by District 1. Clarity, the girl from 1 sent a spear right through Haley, the girl from 7 to the ground. Dean took his axe and ended any pain she would have went through and took his axe to her chest. Her cannon went off. Dean said it was one of the most painful things to watch. Right beside him a girl, a innocent girl, dead, gone, and forgotten.
Dean looked right into Clarity's eyes and she didn't hesitate to throw a spear right in his direction. He jumped to the right quickly falling to the ground. He tried to stand up but by the time he even looked up a spear went through his left arm. His yell full of agony filled the arena. He knew if he didn't do anything now he would die. He stood up yanking the spear out of his arm and threw it right back at her. She dodges.
After the dodge he runs head on at her with his axe. Before he can slice her whole entire right arm off, she shoves a dagger into his neck. They both severely injured. Lay there. Taking in each others screams. Until Dean takes out the dagger in his neck and it overcomes him. He turns into someone I never knew him as, or would want to know him as, the beast inside of him. He takes the dagger and repeatedly stabs Clarity all over her screams and her turns fade. Boom.
Dean Mason a victor.
When he came home he didn't talk for a whole 4 months. One day he spoke. Me, My Mother, And My Father in the living room of House Number 4 of Victor's Village. His exact words were,
"They did it.. Turned me into something I didn't want to be..."
A silent moment approaches.
He points right at me, his eyes dead onto mine.
