Chapter 8
Shizuo

Several months had passed since Shizuo left Izaya in that hospital. Since he had made the promise with Izaya to see him once he got better. There's no way that the flea could still be in the hospital...damn flea.

Shizuo paced his apartment. Everyday he would get off of work early and wait for his former enemy for hours. He hadn't gotten an email, message, or anything like that to even tell that he was okay.

A knock rang out into the apartment. Quickly, Shizuo stood up like a jack-in-the-box and ran to open the door. There, he found a very angry Vorona.

"Oh, it's you," Shizuo said, pressing his temples irritably.

"Shizuo, I need to have a word with you," the woman said firmly.

Shizuo turned and walked back into the apartment to pace, waving a hand in dismissal towards Vorona.

"You have been lazing out on your job for months now! Tom is beginning to get annoyed and people in the city are getting out of control!"

Shizuo glared at her over his shoulder.

"I already know that everyone is afraid of me," he growled. "You don't need to rub it in."

Vorona rolled her eyes.

"That isn't the point. The point is that you need to come back and take your job seriously! Izaya Orihara is causing more trouble than he has in a long time!"

Shizuo froze.

"What? Izaya is back? When did this happen!?" He demanded, grabbing Vorona by her shoulders. "Where is he??"

"Calm down Shizuo," she pulled away.  "I last saw him in Sunshine City-"

Without missing a beat, Shizuo ran out the door leaving Vorona exasperated, believing he was going to attempt to kill the informant.

•••

Breathing heavily, Shizuo raced down the streets to Ikebukuro. Looking around, he stopped to catch his breath. Not a black coat in sight. He felt his blood boiling and he screamed into the air, shocking the people around him. Shizuo's scream seemed to echo into the busy city and disappear into the alleyways.

As Shizuo caught his breath, he heard the familiar sound of dainty footsteps behind him.

"Ohh, Shizu-chan! Long time no see~!"

That voice...

Shizuo turned to see the black fur coat standing nonchalantly behind him. Izaya. His forehead was neatly bandaged and his signature smirk made Shizuo's heart skip a beat.

"Izaya..." Shizuo muttered. He stood and walked towards the informant but stopped short when he saw Izaya's confused and cautious expression.

"You promised you'd meet me when you recovered," Shizuo said slowly. "Where have you been!?"

"Calm down Shizu-chan~ I've just been away on a vacation for a while," Izaya looked confused despite his easy-going answer. "It makes me happy to know you missed me."

"Like hell I missed you," Shizuo growled. This flea was pissing him off...

Why did he lie to me?!

"There was no vacation, dirtbag," Shizuo said. "I know where you were, I saw you."

"You must be mistaken~"

Izaya waltzed towards Shizuo until he was close enough that their faces were less than two inches together. Shizuo's face flushed. The informant smirked.

"You let your guard down~," he said. "Monster."

Shizuo felt a sharp pain travel from his stomach to his collar bone. He looked down and caught sight of the switchblade that Izaya kept with him.

Why?

"Damn you flea!" Shizuo couldn't control himself and pulled a street sign out of the ground like a flower.

I don't want...

Shizuo swung the sign at Izaya, who dodged it like a pro.

To do this...

"IZAYA!" He roared, running after his enemy.

To him.

Shizuo had backed the informant against a wall in the wall, cornered with a vending machine. Menacingly, he glared Izaya, half rage and half unspeakable hurt. He must've not cared about them at all. He must've just been manipulating Shizuo again...

"Give me back my first kiss..." Shizuo muttered. "Damn fleabag."

Izaya froze and looked up at him with his deep brown eyes. Shizuo couldn't bear it; he couldn't hurt Izaya. He dropped the vending machine and with the swiftness of an arrow, Izaya bolted, disappearing once again into thin air.

"I can't believe that asshole forgot our promise."
