"Woah! Cool it, dude!" Said the fox that came from those bushes. This fox had a gray body with a white mane, and turquoise eyes. Pax continued to growl, though Rubin let her guard down slightly.
"What do you want," Pax said. The fox laid on the ground. "I'm just looking for companions, cause my forest burned down a few miles back." Pax again was uneasy, something about this guy was not right. He seemed...off. Rubin however, didn't seem to mind, and was already asking questions.
"What's your name, dude?" Was her first question. The fox smiled.
"Good to see your coming around. My names Grey." He smiled warmly at her. Pax rolled his eyes.
"So were are you guys from?" Grey asked, moving a little closer. This time, Pax answered.
"We come from way down south." Pax answered wearily. He still didn't trust him. Grey laughed.
"Ha! That's weird! The south can be so stupid sometimes." He sneered at Pax. Pax's eyes pulsed red for a second. He inhaled slowly.
"We're not stupid." Pax stated. The intensity in which Pax said these words was very threatening. Grey flinched.
"Nonono! I didn't mean it like that! I was just trying to lighten the mood!" He quickly apologized. Pax was silent.
"So you guys got any family?" Again, Pax was tested. But he kept cool for Rubin.
"Our families are dead." He stated cooly. No intensity implied.
"Oh sorry," he said, not sounding sorry at all, "my family were all great leaders of the forest, before it burned. What about you guys? Were you leaders?" He asked. Rubin answered.
"No, we were just playing around a lot."
"Oh," He replied, "I guess everyone can't be on top." Pax kept his cool, though with effort.
"Can we just go now, Rubin?" He asked her. Rubin looked up.
"I'm in no rush." Grey told her, ignoring Pax's plea. "Whenever you wanna go, I'll follow." Rubin said they'll go now. Pax and Rubin walked together, moving up the road while conversing with Grey, but Rubin was doing the talking. Pax was struggling not to bite him. Soon, Grey was walking alongside Rubin, and Pax had fell behind to get away.
"So are you guys dating orrr?..." Grey asked. Rubin turned from him and blushed. "Yeah, we are." She replied. Grey huffed.
"Do you really like him tho?" He continued. Rubin snapped her head at him.
"Of course I do! Why would you ask me that?" Grey smiled.
"Just checking. I can do better tho. That guy probably isn't as big as me." Rubin frowned angrily.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Grey quickly looked away, but still sneered. Pax had shown back up.
"Hey guys, let's stop at that old house." He asked. Rubin glared at Grey.
"Yeah, babe, let's do that." Pax looked confused, but didn't say anything.
