----Jade's POV----
I'm so glad that camp was extended. Its seems I just realized how much stuff there was to do. There are so many workshops that I wouldn't have been able to do if we had only stayed for two weeks but now I should be able to do close to all of them! Of course that is not what some of the other kids here thought. They thought it was just more time to goof off without their parents or other big supervision. Seriously if they didn't come to seize the oppurtunity given to us why did they come at all? The point of this trip was not to skip workshops to go to bars and try to get someone to buy them drinks because they are underage.
I will say managing between workshops, rehearsal, shows, dances, sleep, showering, and all that jazz is a lot harder then I would have imagined. The dark circles under my eyes have become perminant now and no amount of concealer will hide them. Also I've been restless at night trying to think of how to solve the state audition fiasco. If I have Ethan confront his mother and the other judges will know something is up. But if I do it she will still turn me down. I'm going to fight for it though.
Because of the extention there is going to be two more audition dates for people who wanted to before but didn't make the deadline or had other issues, meaning I can still be put on that list and dammit if I'm not going to try like hell!
----Ethan's POV----
"Mom? MOM?" I called out as I turned the corner of the building she was suppost to be in.
"Over here darling." She said with a smile.
"How's everything going with the auditions and what not?" I asked. I was going to bring up Jade and ask as innocently as possible why she hadn't made it on the list of people who would be going to state.
"Its going alright. Lots of dances, some good and other some...well not so good. We have a great group this year though."
"Can I see the list?"
"Sure sweet-heart, here." She said handing it to me. I flipped through it although I knew the name I was looking for wouldn't be on it.
"Wait." I said and stopped flipping through the list. "Why didn't Jade make it? Her dance was amazing. I know, I helped choreograph it."
I looked up and saw my mom roll her eyes.
"Well the dance was good but the preformance was lacking and there were other things wrong with it."
"Your kidding me right? There was nothing wrong with the dance or performance. Jade is one of the most passionate dancers I know. This is because you don't like her isn't it?"
"I'm not going through this with you. I'm the judge and I said no. Why do you care anyway? I thought you guys weren't friends anymore....right?"
I hesitated and looked away quickly.
"Right Ethan?!" She asked again.
"No we aren't" I said. Its not a lie really, we aren't friends. We're more than that. "I care because I know she really wants this and she is really talented so she deserves it. You've got to learn to put all that other stuff aside mother."
"My judgement is final." She said harshly and stood up.
"Your wrong!" I screamed. "Why do you hate her anyway?"
"Don't you get that tone with me young man! I am your mother, you have no right to yell at me!" She screamed. "That girl is going to end up just like her slut mother. Divorced and remarried several times, struggling for money, and using and bringing down a perfectly good man that she donest deserve! He was mine, mine! And she took him away."
"Oh so that's what this is about? Her mother stole your man back in the day and so now your going to take it out on the daughter? That's low mom, even for you. Let me ask you one thing; did the other judges vote no, or was it just you?"
She froze, tears in her eyes and face flushed red. She looked away and then after a moment back at me.
"I did what my duty was to do; judge. I don't have to explain on what I judged."
"I. HATE. YOU." I said calmly as I turned and started to walk away. I paused, turned around, and said "and another thing. Jade may not come from a rich family but at least they are happy and she is trying to make something of herself. Your the one holding her back. Its people like you that are the reason that other more talented people may not make it in the world. I can't wait until I'm eighteen." And with that I walked away. I could hear her calling after me, "ETHAN?! ETHAN GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!" I knew I would be in deep shit later but I don't give a fuck. I can't believe her, my own mother. Why can't she see what a great person Jade really is?
I know I'm a guy but my mother can make me so flustered. I knew my face was scarlett and my eyes were filling up with hot water as I walked to my dorm.
* * *
I was walking down the hallway to my dorm and I didn't feel like myslef. I felt as though I was out of my body. I love my mom but I can't stand to be away from Jade. Its like there is this unseen force pulling me towards her and I have no will to break it.
I turn the corner of the hallway and see Jade knocking on my dorm room door. I sneak up behind her as quietly as I can and in one quick motion wrap my arms around her and fling her into the air.
First of all this was a huge mistake because no longer then I had her in the air she elbowed me in the stomach causing me to drop her. She hurried to get off of the ground and turned around to look at me as I was doubled over.
"ETHAN? What the hell?! You freaked me out, I thought some weirdo was trying to grab me!" She shouted.
"I'm sorry." I said with a small smile on my lips. "Ill remember not to do that again. Man I feel bad for the person that trys to snatch you if anyone ever does, that hurt." I said rubbing the area on my stomach that still felt a little bit of pain.
"I'm sorry. Its a reflex after taking those self defense classes my parents forced me into."
"Its alright, you didn't do too much damage to my abdomen."
She giggled at my playful tone and then asked "where were you? I have free time so I was going to see if you wanted to chill but I've been knocking on your door for the last five minutes. I called your cell but you didn't answer."
I took my cell phone out of my pocket and saw that I had three missed calls from her. Hmmm wonder why I didn't feel it vibrate.
Then I looked at the top of the screen and saw it was on slient. Well no wonder! I feel stupid ha-ha, plus I had been out of it from the fight with my mother. Dammit I had forgotten about my mother when I saw Jade, now all the emotion came flooding back. I dropped my head a little and opened my mouth to speak.
"I was with my mother trying to talk to her about you and your state audition. We got into a big fight and I told her I hate her and right now I really do."
"Ohh Ethan I'm so sorry I didn't relize that's where you were. Are you okay? Let's go inside and talk about it."
So from there we went inside my dorm and I told her everything that had happened. What my mother said, and the reason why she hated Jade so much, what I had said in return...Jade just sat and listened and comforted me, which made me feel really girly but right now I don't mind.
