The Academy of Never Ever After Book One: Snow White

Chapter Two

Sabrina moved her head a little, the slight pain of stiffness running through the muscles. Clenching her hands into the soft ground, she forced herself to get up and open her eyes. Slightly the optics widened at the site before her.

She was in the middle of a small clearing some where in a forest. Light was seeping through the branches of the surrounding trees, giving the area a soft magical glow. A small stream could be heard a little ways away. The only thing that seemed odd was the fact that there were no animals making no sounds, and that Blake was no where to be seen.

With a sigh, she got up and dusted herself off. Pulling out the heart shaped communicator and opening, she pushed the button that should connect her to Blake. For a moment nothing happened. A red light at the top of it was lightly flashing. Shaking her head, she closed it and put it back. She listened closely to pick up any signs of life as she started to walk from the clearing.

As far as she could see, it looked like no animals at all even lived in the forest. The further she walked, the more and more light started to fill in the forest. Within a matter of seconds she had stepped out of the forest and was staring at a large and brightly painted village. People were gathered around what looked like the prison and all seemed very angry.

She didn't slow her pace as she walked, getting her to the crowed in no time. "Excuse me." Sabrina looked at an old looking women, "What's going on? Why does every one look so angry."

"You haven't heard?" The old women looked upon her in shock. "The prince has been arrested for the murder of the queen and of Snow White." Slightly she shook her head, "No one believes he did it though... How could he? He was so in love with Snow White..."

"It was those damn dwarfs!" A man close to them shouted bitterly, gaining a few agreements from those that had heard them.

Sabrina nodded a little then pushed though the crowed. Everyone moved from her way once they saw how she looked. Fear and confusion mixed in their faces. She was dressed oddly and had a slight accent to her voice. The people were not use to strangers.

Ignoring the stares, she walked up to the door or the prison and pushed it open. Instantly armed men greeted her. Their glares looked with her own calm eyes, weapons posed and ready to be used on her. With out saying a word, she raised her hands.

"I'm only here to talk with the prince." Her voice was calm and she lowered her hands. Not waiting for an answer, she pushed past them. They made no move stop her. All they did was stand and stare in surprise. Taking slow steps, she went straight up to the prince's cell.

He looked up at her with sad eyes, tear stains showing upon his skin. "Are you here to kill me...?"

"No." Her head shook, "I just want to ask some questions."

Hesitating, he looked away and nodded. "Okay..."

She sat down next to the cell, "Did you kill them?"

"No..."

"Did the Dwarfs?"

"No... They would never hurt Snow White..."

"Do you know who would?"

"The Queen... But... She's dead too..." Tears welled up in his eyes, "I didn't do it... I would never hurt her, I love her to much... Everyone here loved her...." The tears ran down his face, "I can't believe she's truly gone..."

"When's he going to wake up, I'm tired of waiting." Growled an irritated voice.

A soft sigh answered, "Just give him some time..."

More voice started talking at once, making everything they were saying jumbled together. All voice belonged to what seemed like different personalities. Blake slowly opened his eyes to look upon who was talking ever so loudly.

Seven creatures stood close to the bed he was lying in. They were short and plump. Each had a long white beard, and each was ugly then the one standing next to them. A slight frown played at his lips.

"Your all Dwarfs..." His voice was soft and light. "Short and ugly Dwarfs..."

Silence fell upon them as they looked over at him. A look of shock fell upon all of their faces. Blake was unsure if they were shocked by his words or by the fact that he was awake and talking. Sitting up, he ran a hand over his face then through his hair.

"So... Ugly little things... Where is my friend? I know you didn't find me all by myself." His gaze drifted to them.

A dumb looking one that had yet to grow a beard crawled upon to the bed and sat in front of him. "She was laying next you holding your hand. We would have carried her here too but she was to heavy... We went back for her but she was no longer there when we got there... I think the imploded from how big she was...."

"She was to heavy?" He smirked, "She your saying she's fat? That's just marvelous, I think I love Dwarfs now." Laughing, he hugged the little man. "So, tell me. Who's home am I in? It looks like Snow Whites."

All their faces became grim, "Actually... It's just ours... But it wont be soon. That thing will return and I'm certain that it's going to kill us all... You should leave to the village as soon as you can before it gets you to." The pissed Dwarf said before he turned and left.

Blake shook his head, he knew it would be best to stay with them. Sabrina was bound to find him sooner or later. She always found him, how, he had no idea. It was as if she just smelled the air and was able to find his location instantly. Chuckling at the thought, he got out of the bed and picked up his stuff from the night stand next to him.

Looking at the communicator, he studied it and frowned. It was busted. 'damn... Must have landed on it when we fell into the world... I'll have to fix it later...' slipping it into his pocket, he followed the Dwarfs into another room that seemed to be covered in nothing but dried blood.

Wrinkling his nose, he stood in a dry spot and watched as the Dwarfs went about cleaning up the mess. They sang no song and made no noise. Not acting the way they did in the story.
