Prompt- Kaoru helping his S/O who is starting to distance themself from everyone and is feeling lonely quite often.

*****

They had become more distant recently, and it hadn't gone past Kaoru unnoticed. He had noticed in the club while he was hosting with his twin, in class, and even when he got to spend time alone with them, he could tell that there was a change.

They had become quiet, and paid less attention to what was going on around them, and it had begun to take it's toll on Kaoru as well.

"Kaoru, if you don't work out whatever is going on with you, I'm going to have to stop the brotherly love package temporarily." Kyoya said from behind his black notebook.

Kaoru sighed, he knew that he wasn't focusing as much during club hours, but he hadn't thought that it got to the point where the guests, or even the rest of the hosts, had noticed.

'Alright. Guess it's time to see what's up with them.' He thought to himself.

Later that night, Kaoru was cuddling with his partner, wrapped up in each others arms on the couch. But even being so close physically, they were still distant, as if they were on one planet and Kaoru was on another. So, he decided to get straight to the point.

"Hey ___, what's wrong? You're not really yourself, and you haven't been lately." He looked at them, and cupped their face with his hand. "You can talk to me, I hope you know that."

They sighed, and gently removed his hand. They looked him in the eyes, and Kaoru saw that they were watery; the beginning of tears.

"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be like this." They said, the tears starting to fall down their cheeks. "Especially not to you."

He took their hand in his, and tried to soothingly rub circles on the back of it. He was determined to listen, and to help, in any way that he possibly could.

"The thing is," They said between sniffles. "Well, is that I feel lonely. All the time. I guess that's the best way to describe it.

"I could be hanging out with you, or one of my other friends, or even be in a big group of people, and still feel like I was the only one in the world. I don't know what to do Kaoru."

He wasn't so sure what to do either.
Kaoru pulled them into his arms, and let his shoulder be dampened with their crying, but he was okay with it. He just held them, making sure not to let go until they were ready.

"Do you wanna talk about it more..?" He offered once they pulled away.

They slowly shook their head, and wiped away their tears.

"No. I'd rather try to take my mind off of it. It's just..." They paused, taking in a shaky breath. "It's just I've been feeling this way for so long, and I want to do something that might help me get through this."

Kaoru burst into a bright smile, and said, "That's exactly what I was waiting for you to say. Come on!"

He took their hand, pulled them to their feet, and gave them a quick peck on the lips.

"I have just the thing that'll cheer you up, okay?"

They smiled back lightly, and nodded, before letting out a giggle as they allowed their boyfriend to drag them out the door.

"So ___, how do you feel about carnivals?"
