Part 40

It's 7 am and I'm already awake for a while now. Aria is sleeping peacefully on my chest. She has to go to work today but I'm afraid to let her go. Maybe someone is watching us and will find the opportunity to attack her. Maybe I'm overreacting because of our past but I don't think that Luke's attack was a coincidence. And the letter D is currently not one. I know she's afraid too, maybe more maybe less. She doesn't want to show it because she doesn't want me to think that she's weak. I think the opposite though. She's not only brave but she's also strong, one the stronger persons I know. She's been through so much, she's lost people who she loved but she's willing to forget everything and start over. She has the strength to move forward.

I feel her moving and waking up. The sound of her alarm woke her up but I was too deep into my thoughts to hear it. After she turns off the alarm she lies back on the bed with her hand on my chest, looks at me and I smile at her.

"Good morning" she says with a sleepy voice.

"Good morning, my beauty" I reply and she smiles.

"Were you awake?"

"Yeah, I woke up early"

"Hm I must get ready now"

"I'll make breakfast"

"Thanks"

"You're welcome"

She gives me a kiss and we both stand up. I go to the kitchen and prepare breakfast for both of us. We both ate and Aria was ready to leave.

"Wait, baby" I say and she looks at me.

"What?"

"Let me come with you"

"Robert relax. I can go to work alone"

"I know you can, I just want to be sure"

"Robert I have to leave, I can't wait for you"

"You don't have to wait for me, we're leaving now, c'mon" I say getting up but she looks at me with a cold face.

"You're not coming with me wearing your boxers and a t-shirt"

Shit, I forgot I was still wearing my pyjamas.

"Sorry, just give me 2 minutes. I promise I don't want more"

"If it takes you more than 2 minutes I'm leaving" she says and rolls her eyes.

"Okay honey"

I literally run to the room and wear the first clothes I pick up. I run back to Aria and wear my shoes. I look at the time and then at her and smile.

"Not even 2 minutes" I say.

"Let's go"

We leave the house and start walking to the office. During our way there I was looking around us to be sure no one was following or watching us. When we arrived at the office we both stopped outside the door and Aria looked at me and sighed.

"Baby don't be so anxious" she says and takes my hand in hers.

"I'm sorry. I want you to be safe"

"I am safe, I'm wih you, remember?"

"I'm trying to keep you safe when you're with me but it doesn't feel right leaving you walking alone"

"Look, you can't be so worried all the time because it's bad for you. Also, you can't walk me to work everyday. So, you will go home and get ready for your work and we'll continue our lives without worrying so much. Okay?"

"Okay, I'm sorry for acting like this. I just love you so much and I want you to be happy and safe. I don't want anything to happen to you because I won't handle it. If a psychopath tries to hurt you and I'm not there to take the bullet for you I'll blame myself"

"Baby I love you too, so so much. But I don't want you to feel this way. You're not obliged to be with me all the time. I have to be able to protect myself too. And I have to go to work, I'm late"

"I promise to be as protective and calm as I can. Are you too late to give your beloved boyfriend a nice kiss?"

"Never too late for that"

We close the gap between us and kiss. We break the kiss and she looks at me smiling.

"Don't you have work to do? You're not ready and I'm pretty sure you're late"

"Don't worry, I start working at 10. I have 4 more hours in the afternoon"

"Oh c'mon that's not fair. You get to enjoy more free time than me"

"But you have a more interesting job"

"I don't think so. People get to enjoy your sexy body"

"Nope, they just see me dressed and sweaty. You enjoy my sexy body"

I give her a kiss again but she breaks it quickly and pulls away.

"Robert look at the time! I'm so late"

"They know you came here in time. They can see us from the inside"

"Okay now let me go apologize for being late and go home to get ready"

I open the door to the office and after she gets in I follow her. She begins to speak but I speak louder to cover her voice.

"Alex I apologize for Aria being late. I wasted too much of her time"

"It's okay man, keep the love alive, right? I wouldn't be mad at Aria, I don't want to mess with you. Look at your muscles" he replies laughing.

"That's true, don't mess with my girl. But please, keep her safe when I'm not around"

"Always"

"I'm leaving you to work, good morning"
