Chapter Five: A Dance Unforgettable
I open my eyes to see I’m standing in a ballroom. Wearing a dress fit for a princess. Its soft blue layers are thin and soft. A few dazzling crystals line the sweet-heart neckline. I look over to my my left to find a full length mirror. I am shocked by what I see. My hair is put up in neat, but complicated, twists and turns. On my head sits a crown of white pearls, crowded around on black pearl. On my face sits a full-face masquerade mask. At my forehead is silver that sparkles, and as you progress down to my chin it is a shiny white. I then look around at my surroundings. I find I am in a ballroom filled of golden tiles, a miraculous miral upon the walls telling a story I have yet to read, and a fountain so beautiful you couldn’t help but stand and stare. Around the grand fountain, couples in masks dance. Its what I always imagined what my palace would look like, well if I had a palace. Its then I realize I have just been standing here for a while. I make my way to one of the grand windows to find that it overlooks a city, and in the distance, mountains. As I take in the scenery, I see a flash of black again. This time when I turn I am only two feet from the boy in my dream. He offers his hand to dance. I am hesitant to accept, but I do. After twirling and stepping for two songs strait, the boy leans into my ear and whispers, “We’re on each others team,” and everyone disappears. I stand in the same room, except now there are boards along the windows, the floors are covered with dead leaves, the mural has faded, and the magnificent fountain is now just a hunk of stone with some graffiti. I no longer wear the dress or mask, and have returned to my jeans.
