"It's s-so freak-k-king cold..." Flowey shivered. You frowned. You were a little cold, but not much. You then realized that Flowey didn't have anything to keep him warm. His petals were tinged with blue on the ends and his face was turning gray.
You held up a finger and dug through your bag. You found a small sweater and used all your strength to rip a sleeve from its seam. You had just ruined a sweater, but you had more. You gestured to Flowey that you wanted to put it on him and he folded in his petals. It fit him, and you put the sleeve end at the top so it was like a little turtleneck dress.
"M-much better." Flowey thanked you. His petals started to go back to normal.
There seemed to be a small wooden box in your path. A sign next to it read,
"This is a box. You can put an item in, or take an item out. Your contents will be moved from box to box, so you don't have to come back. Although, if you're not a moron you won't leave your stuff where it can be stolen."
Wow. Rude. You wouldn't have put your stuff in anyway. You lifted the lid and peered inside. There was a worn orange glove lying inside. There was more white dust where the knuckles were. You closed the lid.
The clearing narrowed into a small pathway. Ahead, somehow, was Sans and Papyrus. Had they somehow snuck past you? You didn't see them come by but... No. They had to have. No one could teleport.
"hey. boss."
"WHAT NOW, IDIOT?!"
"what's that over there?"
"ARE YOU BLIND?!" Papyrus screamed, skull held high. "THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A HUMAN." He seemed not to quite understand the depth of the situation.
There was a pause, then Papyrus seemed to realize.
"OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD. SANS! A HUMAN! QUICK, ATTACK THEM!"
"nah, boss. we gotta take them to asgore. all we will do is rattle them."
"SANS. I SWEAR." Papyrus took a deep breath, then continued. "I WOULD DISAGREE WITH YOU. AFTER ALL, THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS VERY STRONG. HOWEVER, THERE WOULD BE NO-WHERE TO PUT THEIR SOUL." Papyrus started strolling around, picking things up, seemingly looking for something to store your SOUL in. You saw your chance and Flowey hissed at you to leave, so you quickly scurried out of the area. Sans just stood there and watched you leave. Why didn't he alert his brother?
Ahead, you saw another sentry station. You cautiously approached it, not sure if it was occupied or not. Your slow speed benefited you, as a small dog soon jumped out and screamed,
"Was something moving?! I'll kill them!"
The dog then started muttering to itself all the ways it could kill you. You froze up. This was lucky, as the dog soon added,
"If something WAS moving, they better KEEP moving... I can only see moving things..."
You kept still, and the dog continued muttering death threats.
"disembowelment... decapitation... stab 'em through the heart... my mom's casserole..."
You hoped you never had to eat his mother's food.
A fight began, and your SOUL appeared. You had found it moved with your body, so if you moved, it moved. That had been how you dodged Toriel's attacks.
Chara snorted in your head. "Doggo." They whispered, "Stay still." You hadn't heard them in a while. You were annoyed to hear them back.
Doggo unsheathed a blue sword and swung it in your direction. It took all your willpower, but you stayed still. It passed right through your SOUL and midsection. You reached up and pet Doggo.
"What the fUCK!!!! I've been pet!!!"
Doggo then started murmuring "pet pot pat pet pat pot" over and over, and you slowly backed away into the next room.
Sans was in the next room.
"hey. human. come'ere." He beckoned you over with his hands. Flowey shook his head that you shouldn't go over to the skeleton, but of course you did anyway. Flowey ducked down into his sweater sleeve.
"so... you're gonna fight my brother soon, right?" Sans asked as soon as you got close enough.
You shrugged your shoulders.
"yeah, you will be. anyway, papyrus has a special attack. if you see a blue attack, don't move and he won't leave a little scratch on your sensitive human skin." His voice was almost mocking, but still, he was offering advice, and you again wondered why he was being so nice to you. The first time you had seen him, he killed you.
"if you do everything right, you may barely escape with your life. you might even manage to kill him." He tried to hide it, but he grimaced at the thought.
"Thanks, but I'm not killing anybody."
Sans was visibly taken aback.
"kid, everyone knows this world is kill or be killed. you included. with ideals like that, you'll be dead in a heartbeat." He paused.
"anyBONE would kill to get their hands on your SOUL." He chuckled at his minor pun.
"Weak." You responded. He shrugged his shoulders.
" 'least I'm tryin'"
You left him alone and walked towards an iced over pond with a sign in the middle. You wanted to read it.
"Frisk, careful!" Flowey warned.
You took a step forward and fell on your butt. You heard Sans bust up laughing behind you. Your face turned red and you struggled up. You didn't want to read the sign anymore.
You instead went to the path in the front of the area. There was a yellow snowman. You tried not to think about what was in the snow.
"Human." The snowman creaked out. "If you aren't a total jerk, would you please take some snow from me and take it as you travel?"
You really didn't want to carry yellow snow as you traveled, but you accepted. You did, however, have a concern.
"Won't you melt? Or the piece of you, anyway?"
"No, no, you idiot. Monsters are made of magic. I won't melt."
You took a chunk of snow from the snowman, wondering if you had hurt him, and turned back on the path you had come down.
You really didn't want to hold on to a chunk of yellow snow, so you put it in the box a few areas back. Hopefully the sign was truthful in that the items would follow you to future boxes.
You continued on, chin held high, excited at what you would find next.
