Epilogue

It was rainy season again at Spriggs-Payne Airport, Monrovia. Spike the Pilot walked with a limp now and used a aviator's cap to cover his greying head. After he put the engine cover down over his new Cessna, he hobbled over to the snack stand where David and Sarah were waiting.

"I got word that there is another passenger." David looked at Sarah. "We will be delayed."

"That is okay, we are expecting to meet with others before take off." David smiled at Spike. "You have no other charter that requires you to come back so soon that you can't wait, inna?"

Spike said, "You know that I will. You guys lead an interesting life up there."

In a moment a Mercedes taxi drove up. An Liberian wearing the collar of an Episcopal priest got out. In a moment he walked over to Sarah and her father. Gary, now with a bit of grey,  accompanied him.

"My friends, Teachuh Lisa will be delayed," he said.

David introduced Musa, who was now rector of Saint Mary's Church in Bolahun. And then he placed his hand on Gary's shoulder.

"These are my best guy friends, Sarah. Meet Father Musa, who has been assigned to pastor Saint Mary's Church. And you have heard of my old Peace Corps friend Gary."

"Will Mother be long? I want her here in time to fly with Daddy and me up to Bolahun."

"My young friend, you have another passenger, another Peace Corps Volunteer to join you. Almost your age," Spike said.

Spike returned to his plane while another taxi drove up. Out stepped two maturing, but lovely ladies. The driver opened the trunk while an handsome young man in a light pull-over shirt and khakis waited for his duffle bag. He then picked it up and joined the others. The driver brought still another bag.

Lisa with bag in hand, no longer in her nerdy glasses, kissed her daughter Sarah and threw her arms around David, sharing a long kiss.

Embarrassed by their near-erotic show of affection, Sarah said, "Hey, mom are you trying to make up for things you missed out on when young?" She looked at Gary. "Moms never do those things, do they?"

"You just tell me one thing, Sarah." Lisa stood with a lustful smile, still holding David. "You still have a shower that both David and I can get into at your house, don't you?"

"Yes, but--" Sarah put her hands to her waist. "Oh, Mom and Dad, must you?" They shared another kiss.

Lisa and David turned to Margaux, who stood holding onto Gary's arm."

"Sarah, meet our good friends Margaux and Gary, we've told you so much about them."

"Oh, yes, you're coming up too?"

"Not immediately," Margaux said, her arm still around Gary. "We have things here to do yet, Sarah."

Sarah was enamored by the young man before her. She said, "My name is Sarah. You're the new Peace Corps teacher?"

"Yeah, my name is Michael. Glad to meet you."

"Are you looking forward to your own Bolahun experience, Michael?"

"Peace of cake, I'll look out for you, girl."

David turned to Lisa. "Sarah's back hand is as good as you palm, isn't it?"

Lisa said, "Just let him get fresh in market, she'll show him."

David said, holding his face, "If it's going to be a painful lesson, I hope it's as good as mine."

Michael walked back up to Gary and Margaux. "Bye, Mom and Dad. Thanks. I'll try to be helpful." He returned to the plane.

Lisa and David turned to Margaux and Gary. "We are looking forward to having you and Gary up at the mission. I can't wait for the bridge games." Lisa hugged Gary and Margaux. "When are you coming?"

"We have some sentimental things down here in Monrovia to do."

"Okay, girl, I can't wait."

Margaux and Gary bade their friends good-by and waited until Spike's plane was well out of sight and on its way to Bolahun and Holy Cross Mission.

Then they turned to each other. Margaux gave Gary a lustful kiss.

"Let's go to the beach tonight, it'll be lovely."

"Did you pack your killer Bikini, Marge?"

"Oh, yes!" She put her tongue in his ear.

They shared another long kiss as the plane swung around and buzzed the airfield.
