Chapter Fifteen

After Margaux was raped by Abed Aziz, it was all she could do to keep Gary from storming his travel office and wiping the floor with him. "He'll kill us, Gary.  He has his goons with him all the time, and they'd never let you near him."  Margaux held his hands together and looked him in the eye.  "We have to find another way."

Gary settled down, kissed her red marks, and then said, "I think that my father can help out."

"What do you mean, Gary?"

"You gotta take him on as a client."

"What? Have sex with him?"

"No, Marge."  He put his arm around her. "My father is independently wealthy. I can have you to get in touch with him.  He can pretend to be your client. He has ways of hiding the fact that he has anything to do with me.  Aziz can be made to think that my Dad is nothing more than an older man looking for a wife or some sex.  If we get him here, he can manage to get you out of here."

"Oh, Gary!"  Margaux was in tears.  "Your father would do that for me? He doesn't even know me. Why would he help out a whore like me?"

"Marge," Gary said, taking her hands in his, "because my father trusts me."

Gary made a special phone call to the United States to appeal to his father on Margaux's behalf. After discussing her unique situation with him, Gary took heart in what his father said.

"You really love Margaux, don't you?"

"Oh, yes, Dad. She is the most beautiful but honest girl that I have ever known."

"Honesty trumps a sincere woman's past." His Dad laughed.  "Gary, you sure know how to pick them. I like her already in spite of what you say she's done."

"Thanks, Dad."

"Look, Gary. Get me in touch with Margaux.  I will play along with her and make our message look convincing enough for Aziz to think that I am hooked on her. Then after a few days I will be able to convince Abed Aziz that I am using Margaux for her sexual favors. I got the means to hide who I really am."

"Are you sure we can pull it off, Dad?"

"Better than that. I can get a passport for Margaux from some guys at the State Department. Some well-placed guys there owe me some favors. We can talk more about what to do after your mother and I arrive in Liberia. Probably separately. Then I will book a room in the Ducor Palace under my client name.  Later Margaux and I will be seen there, but then we will slip away and all get together someplace out of the way. Got any suggestions, Gary?"

"How about in Buchanan, Dad?"

"Sounds good, I'll check out accommodations there."

"Thanks, Dad. I don't know how I can repay you."

"One word, Gary."

"How's that, Dad?"

"Grandchildren, Gary."

"That'll be easy, pop, once we get married!"

After conferring with his father again to make plans, Gary met again with Margaux.

"Marge, Dad and Mom are going to help us."

"Really, Gary?"

Gary's father would make sure that Abed Aziz was not the wiser. In quick time Margaux's services as a special tour guide for Gary's father were contracted by the unsuspecting Abed. Margaux continued to pretend to cultivate a relationship with Gary's father with Aziz's blessing.

Abed Aziz investigated Gary's father but was a step behind him. Gary's father managed to shield his real financial situation and his real bank account by having credit reporting agencies to feed Aziz a fake background to keep him in the dark. After a couple of days, Aziz was just happy with an generous upfront payment for Margaux's services. To Aziz it was just another service with Margaux playing an indispensable role.   Just as important was that Aziz was unable to trace anything back to Gary.
