Chapter 12

"Hey, girl! Who's the fine piece of white chocolate you got?" Her grandma asked, pointing behind her.

The unknown figure stepped forward before she could get a good look.

"I'm Caspar. It's nice to meet you, miss." Caspar said, politely.

Tabitha was surprised. She didn't think Caspar would stay with her. It was sweet of him. But, she was still shocked.

"Well, let's get goin', kids!" Her grandmother said, leading them to the car without looking back.

"I thought you were looking for a job?" Tabitha asked, curiously.

"That was before I met you." He said, grinning.

"Don't try to butter me up. You expect to stay for the whole summer?" She asked. folding her arms.

"Well, yeah." He said, as though she should already know.

"You can't just crash at my Gma's without asking!" Tabitha said, coming up with a reason.

"If you don't want me here, I can leave." He said, looking down at her.

"No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that my grandma may not be prepared to accommodate you." She said, smiling a fake smile.

"Ma'am, would it be okay if I stayed for the summer?" He asked, politely, turning his charm on.

"Heck yes! We could use some testosterone in the house. Just don't have sex on my good sheets." Her grandmother said, getting into the car.

"Grandma!" Tabitha shouted, her face turning a faint shade of red.

" What? White dudes are hot! I know y'all fuckin'" She said, chuckling to herself.

Caspar chuckled, but he didn't turn red. Hmm...weird, She thought.

"And here's your room." Tabitha said, opening a door and leading Caspar inside. "You have a pretty big closet, a nice bed, great lighting..."

"Perfect for this..." He whispered, kissing on her neck.

Tabitha shuddered, because Caspar knew exactly what he was doing. She hadn't realized how much she had longed for sex, and here he was, getting ready to grant her wish.

He lifted her shirt a little, to allow room for his fingers to trace little, lazy circles into her skin, before he lifted her shirt off the reveal her black bra.

"Mm...Victoria's Secret..." He said, inhaling her scent.

Tabitha was getting impatient. She tried not to show the disdain in her eyes, but she couldn't help it.

Caspar's eyes turned red, and Tabitha blacked out.

When she woke up, she was naked in the bed. Next to her was Caspar, who was naked as well.

"D-did we have sex?" She asked, curious.

Caspar chuckled. "Yeah. You were beyond great..."He said, making dreamy eyes.

"What's the difference?" Caspar asked, confused.

Tabitha laughed harder than she had in 2 months."Gumbo is different. Soup is soup. BIG difference." She explained.

We'll fix gumbo tonight. Me and. Stumpy are going to go to the store. you watch the house, okay?" Her grandma instructed, grabbing her keys.

"Grandma, can you stop calling me Stumpy now?" Tabitha said, rolling her eyes as she left.

When they arrived at the supermarket, Tabitha grabbed the items on the list. All except white rice, because she couldn't find it.

"Gramz, I'm gonna go look for help.." Tabitha said, walking into the next aisle.

Tabitha looked bored as she searched for assistance. Then, she found someone. An enormously tall man with pitch black hair and an earring. He had his back turned to her, so she couldn't say much for his face. He wore an orange reflector jacket, so she knew he worked here.

"Hey, do you know uh, where the with rice is?" She asked, tapping him on the shoulder.

He spun around.

"Sure. They're on- TABITHA?!" Lionel said, in disbelief.

"L-L-l" She stuttered, unable to say his name. All of her emotions came rushing back. Her heart hurt. her eyes stung, and she was in shock.

"I tried to run from you-" He said, truthfully.

"Why would you-" She said, cutting herself off because she felt queasy.

"Because I smothered you." He said, reciting old conversations.

"I-i didn't-" She burst into tears. she couldn't contain it anymore. All the sadness, the confusion. the hatred of that day rocked her to the core. She had tried to bury her feelings, but that had left her numb. Feeling numb for too long, makes it hard when you finally start feeling emotion.

"It's okay.."He said, hugging her. As soon as she entered his arms, he pushed her away violently.

"You've been with a vampire" He said, growling.
