chapter 2

Akilah was sitting in her new office rummaging through some folders trying to get what she just did out of her mind when she heard a knock on the door followed by a sigh. Soon then the door opened revealing her boss; Ian who stood there with what you would think is an emotionless face but if you concentrated you could see the guilt in his brown chestnut eyes.

"What do you want?"Akilah said with a sigh wanting to be far away from him as possible, "look I'm sorry for what I said I don't think anything I say will justify what you heard. I was not very pleased to be working with you in the first place; I though you will be like one of those girls who expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. Yes you did get your old company a very important contract one that every single CEO would want for their business but I wasn't sure how you got it I truly thought you seduced someone to make them sign a contract with you"

"I understand where you are coming from Mr. Maxfield but that is still very rude of you and I am honestly quite hurt from the accusations you blindly made."

"Yes I understand where you're coming from and again I apologize for what I said, but how about we put it behind us and get to work; maybe then you can prove to me what you're made of." Akilah raised her brow in inquiry "show you what I'm made of? I'm assuming that means you'll be giving me a hard task."

"You assumed correctly, have you heard of Sam Donovan the CEO of Globex?"

"Of course, anyone who works in a company has heard of him." Ian gave Akilah a smirk and said "I want you to get them to have a meeting with us, it will be very good for our company since Faraday Inc. took our last deal." Akilah had a stunned look on her face "You must be kidding that's close to impossible they are always booked with meetings and interviews, etc." She then took a deep breath and said "you know what I'll try my best, can you please shut the door on your way out."

After working so hard for almost the whole day Akilah looked at her computer screen with a smile; she succeeded in getting a meeting with Sam Donovan! She was so proud of herself she went down to her boss's office where a golden plate read Ian Maxfield. She took a deep breath, tugged on her skirt slightly and smoothed down her hair just to make sure she looked neat before knocking on the door and going in.

"Sir, I got us a meeting with Mr. Donovan his secretary said we will have to fly to LA on Wednesday so the day after tomorrow, Mr. Donovan will be having a beach party and we are invited; you know how he is, he loves to discuss business while having a good time or doing something adventurous."

Ian looked shocked he honestly did not expect her to do it "well I guess we will be going to LA then, I'll have my assistant get my private jet ready. Be sure to depart at 10:00 am sharp"

"Yes sir" Akilah said with a triumphant look on her face then went back to her office to gather her things and head home.

The next day after a typical day at work Akilah headed back home and called her neighbour Ivory to see if she wanted to hang out. Ivory was about the same age as Akilah, she had beautiful bleached blonde hair and somewhat dark green eyes, her skin was pale and she was short like Akilah and if you're wondering about her personality then she is definitely the life of the party; she's always energetic and never has she made anyone dull or upset when they were around her.

"Hey marshmallow, who's the cutest little kitty" Ivory said in a baby voice the minute she saw marshmallow meowing while walking towards them. Akilah just chuckled then told Ivory what had happened on her first day of work but soon the conversation drifted off into shopping and boys when suddenly Akilah's phone rang "hi Alex, how are you?"

"I'm good but I just heard from William that you and Ian are going to be going to LA!" Alex screamed into the phone with excitement "I'm coming over to your apartment right now, we have to go shopping!" Akilah didn't even have time to explain to Alex that she had company and that she wasn't going with Ian for fun she was going there on a business trip but not long after explaining who Alex was to Ivory the doorbell rang.

Akilah went to get the door and Ivory stood up to greet Alex who was too excited for her own good.

"Hi I'm Ivory, Akilah just told me about you I'm glad I got to meet you before I leave"

"oh hi lovely to meet you too Ivory but who said anything about leaving?"

"LADIES WE ARE ALL GOING SHOPPING!!"Alex shouted at the top of her lungs, she then proceeded to drag both Ivory and Akilah to the nearest mall where they entered every single store and tried on almost every piece of clothing without caring about the price.

Akilah and Ivory were quite exhausted by the end of it but Akilah did really enjoy herself and she was glad that her two friends got along quite well and also she got to buy new clothing items and a new bikini that she was planning on wearing at the beach party she and Ian were going to.

Akilah woke up the next day feeling nervous but excited, she always dreamt of travelling to different places because of her job but she hadn't got the opportunity to do so when she was working with Faraday Inc. but now she was going to LA and she couldn't be happier even if it was just for one day. Oh speaking of she had to get ready; she took a quick shower and did her morning rituals, she was so glad she packed her carry on suitcase the night before when she got back from the mall with her two friends it honestly saved her so much time since she was kind of running late, she quickly dropped Marshmallow at Ivory's place since she will be taking care of her while Akilah was gone.

When Akilah walked into the building she scurried over to her office where she saw Ian standing there waiting for her "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to be late I just lost track of time this morning."

"Don't worry about it but next time I expect you to be punctual, anyways I just came to make sure that everything is ok and to let you know that we will be leaving in about 15 minutes; my driver will take us to the private jet and then we will be on our way to meet Sam Donovan" as Ian was mentioning the last part Akilah could detect the excitement in his voice, she inwardly smiled as the thought of the devil having emotions crossed her mind.

After a hectic flight they finally arrived in LA and headed straight to the hotel but you could imagine their surprise when they found out that Akilah and Ian were going to be sharing a suite together

"I'm sorry sir but all of the other rooms are booked, when your assistant called we told her that we only had one suite available and she told us to book it; but don't worry you both will have separate bedrooms you will only be sharing the living room and the kitchen."

After that was said Akilah felt slightly better knowing that she didn't have to share a room with her incredibly sexy British boss. When they arrived at the suite Akilah couldn't stop gawking; not only was the view magnificent but the rooms were very luxurious and she couldn't help herself from jumping onto the bed with a shriek of excitement coming from her mouth as she started rolling around and giggling about the massive bed she was going to sleep in, the only downfall was that the bathrooms were located outside the rooms and they did not adjoin them, but Akilah didn't really mind.

After unpacking her clothes and toiletries and chilling out for a while Akilah got thirsty and decided to head to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

After a refreshing glass of cold water that quenched her thirst Akilah turned around to head back into her room when she saw Ian coming out of the bathroom with only a towel on his waist, she got to see his amazing body and to be fair she wasn't complaining; I mean he had a six pack and she couldn't help but drool. Akilah quickly snapped out of her daze and hurriedly rushed into her room making sure that her boss didn't notice that she was there.

She ended up taking a quick shower herself to wash away all the tiredness from travelling she also put on some light make up, did her hair and got dressed. Her bikini was beige and had a strap of black underneath the top part but the bottoms had the straps on the side which made her look sexy since they complimented her curves.

When she came out of her room she nearly bumped into Ian who was wearing a pair of swimming trunks and nothing else. Ian on the other hand couldn't stop staring at her; she looked stunning but of course he didn't show it.

After many hours Ian and Akilah headed back to their suite looking very pleased with themselves; they had just nailed a deal with Globex all thanks to Ian's charm and Akilah's wits. They immediately headed towards their bedrooms and jumped onto the bed where they dreamt of nothing but darkness which was from the amount of exhaustion they were under.
