Akilah

Chapter 3

The following morning Akilah and Ian headed back home, but sadly they had to go back to work immediately; them being the CEO and COO work never sleeps.

"Excuse me everyone I have an announcement to make; since Ms. Worthington and I just got back from our very successful trip we decided that we need to celebrate so we will all be going to the pub two blocks away from the company. Oh and please bring anyone you want with you, after all this is a celebration!" everyone cheered and clapped and some even whistled.

Akilah smiled and texted Ivory and asked her if she wanted to be her plus one since she knew that Alex will be there of course; being Ian's friend and everything. A few minutes later Akilah's phone buzzed and after reading big "YES" from Ivory she put her phone away and headed over to talk to Mrs. Vanderwoodsen; she's Ian's secretary, she's an old lady and everyone who worked in the building knew her and loved her. After getting out of the elevator Akilah spots Mrs. Vanderwoodsen's desk full of boxes "Mary! What are you doing? Are they moving your desk someplace else?" Mary looked at Akilah with sad eyes and said "No dear, I am resigning."

"WHAT? WHY?" Akilah shrieked out of horror; she didn't want Mary to leave since she was the closest thing Akilah had to a mother. Akilah quickly shook her head to get rid of the bad memories that popped into her mind and waited for Mary to answer her. "Well dear I'm getting tired of working and I want to spend my time with my grandchildren and my husband, I have been working for this company for over a decade; I used to be Mr. Maxfield's assistant and when he decided to hand over his company to Ian I agreed to continue working here, but now I just want to enjoy my time and relax with my family." "I understand." Akilah said in a broken-hearted tone.

She then went to Ian's office not before knocking the door and hearing a "Come in".

"I can't believe that Mrs. Vanderwoodsen is leaving, I mean I got so used to her and now I feel like the office won't be the same without her." "I understand where you're coming from, but sadly we have to respect her decision whether we like it or not. Oh speaking of I'm actually looking over some resumes for future secretaries and I think I found one. Her name is Christina and she had some previous experience working for various different companies so I think I'll contact her and see if she's willing to come."

"Oh well, I guess I'll leave you to it then."

That night Akilah couldn't sleep; she kept on twisting and turning in bed.

"No, No, No! Please stop please!" Akilah screams while getting thrown over the floor and a male figure coming to beat her again.

"You killed her you little b*tch!" he screams at her with rage while tears flowed down his face.

Akilah woke up with a gasp, sweat covering every inch of her. "Not again" she murmurs then sips her water that's sitting on her bed stand. Soon after she heard a meow from Marshmallow; she picked her up and patted her slowly trying to soothe herself and it worked because not long after she had fallen into darkness with no continuing nightmares that night.

The next morning Akilah's walks into her office, puts her things down and heads straight to Ian's office since he had some important documents to look over before they finalize everything for their upcoming project.

"Um excuse me, but Mr. Maxfield is a bit busy so I don't think you should go in" says a tall slim dark haired girl in a snobby attitude.

"Ah you must be Christina, right? My name is Akilah and I'm the COO of this company it's nice to meet you." Akilah said in warm tone and a kind smile outstretching her hand towards Christina.

Christina just eyes Akilah in disgust and replies "Oh you're the COO, I honestly don't know why Ian would hire someone as ugly as you"

Akilah gives Christina a confused look and just shrugs off her comment then knocks on Ian's door and goes in without waiting giving any sort of attention to the furious Christina.

The week went by painfully slowly and by the time Friday came along Akilah was extremely exhausted, she also completely forgot about going to the club that night to celebrate the fact that Ian and her got Globex to sign a contract with Maxfeild&Co.

All of a sudden her doorbell rings and in comes Ivory and Alex "We will all be getting ready together for the club tonight!" Ivory says, excitement written all over her features. "Oh my God!" Akilah says while slapping her forehead. "I completely forgot about tonight, look you guys I'm really tired so you go without me I think I'll just chill out at home." "Oh no you're not" says Alex with finality in her tone, she goes over to Akilah's closet and rummages for a few minutes before picking out a dark red dress that stops at the middle of her thighs, it has a v cut in the middle of its neckline and has a cinched waist. She then took out some dangly gold earrings and a chain gold bracelet to match. "You'll wear this, now get your butt of that chair and let Ivory do your hair while I find a purse and shoes to match."

After half an hour Akilah had her dark brown hair curled at the bottom and was wearing the dress and gold accessories, she finished the look with gold pumps and a black clutch. She had light makeup on and bright red lips to finish the look.

As for Ivory she wore a short black strapless dress; the bodice had a busy white design (which suited her active and crazy personality) and the skirt was black and flared out so it almost looked like a tutu and adjoining the two was a black ribbon shaped into a bow. She kept the accessories simple though; only wearing teardrop dangly earrings made with Swarovski diamonds, as for the shoes she wore black velvet pumps.

And of course last but certainly not least was Alex's dress. She wore a white dress that had Swarovski diamonds scattered over it and the rest of the dress was lace but in the middle of the bodice there were small white flowers that are barely noticeable unless you looked close enough. Attached to the dress was something like a choker and what connected the choker to the dress was some sheer material with lace on it and some diamonds; all we can say is that Alex has very expensive taste. The earrings were very long it almost touched the choker and of course they were made of diamonds. The shoes she wore were white sandal heels (which showed of her pedicure) that had a small diamond buckle that held the straps in place.
