i smack my lips and climb off mr adara. mr adara stands up and runs his hands through his hair, and guilty smile on his face. 'sorry mate, i'm sure we can figure this out in a way that neither of us will lose our jobs?' he holds up his hands and i watch harry. his cheeks are red with anger and his fists are clenched by his sides, and acknowledging the fact it was the first time i heard him swear when he walked through the doors. he had a satchel over his shoulder so i assumed he was heading home and must've stumbled upon us.

'no mate, she's a patient. this sort of stuff does not and will not go on behind the scenes. what were you thinking?'

'it was a two way thing, Harry.' i add. he raises his eyebrows.

'i'm sure elizabeth will be delighted to hear that.'

'it wasn't for no reason, you have to understand. i teach her, i see her a lot-'

'i'm a nurse, i see her a lot too.' harry spits.

'what i'm trying to say is, i like her. she's different from any other patient here.'

'you like her? can't you tend your needs at home or some shit?' harry shouts. 'she's not up for grabs adara.' he storms towards him but mr adara puts his hand in front of him.

'im not looking for a fight.' mr adara smiles nervously looking at me for a split second.

'are they- are they love bites?' he grabs mr adaras jaw and forces it to the side looking at the marks i left on his neck. harry stays silent before letting go of his face and storming towards me.

'do you have any? show me the them, sunny.' he rambles on.

'oh shut up, you hypocrite.' i grab his jaw like he did with mr adara's and stare at the marks alexandria left on the tender skin. there was four of them ranging between light and deep purple. i push him away from me and and look at the scowl he hasn't taken off his face.

'alexandria? your a cliché, like nobody would've known the good looking male nurse would go for the barbie of sinclair.' i roll my eyes and pick up my books.

'see you in class, mr adara.' i say before leaving the classroom without a word.

my shoulder shoved the front door open and the stale smell of cigarette smoke engulfed me.

'mum, you home?' i call, I drop my bag by the front door and it falls in a slump, a copy sliding out. there was silence except the hum of the radiator. i walk into the kitchen, it was dimly lit so i flicked the light switch. strewn out on the floor in front of me was robs body.

'rob!' i fell to his side and turned him over. he was breathing, that was for sure but he must've passed out. the smell of drink was so strong i had to look away to get a breath of some sort of fresh air.

'mum!' i shout. 'are you home?' still silence.

i tuck my hands under robs arms and pick him up, but it was more of a drag. rob was well built and heavy so it took me about five minutes to get him to the living room. he groaned a couple of times before snuggling into the couch and going back to sleep.

i kicked off my shoes before i entered the bathroom, pulling out a wipe and smearing todays makeup off my face. this was how most days went, mum sometimes would be at home when i came home from school, other days she wasn't. it was mostly her work, but i was the one that had to look after my older brother. he was two years older than me but that didn't mean he could take care of himself. he liked to go out on these 'belters' every weekend but sometimes it was on weekdays, like today.
