I am from England, but I don't understand what people mean when they say they can talk in a British accent.
As we all know, or should know, Britain is full of lots of accents such as Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English etc. (I think Ireland is in Britain. Wait I think they are in the U.K nvm)
So what I'm wondering is, why does everyone impersonate an English person and say it's a British accent? Do you get what I mean?
Maybe I'm just too picky. I'm not annoyed when people say that and speak like some high class person, but it can sort of be confusing.
When someone says British accent, I automatically think of all of the different, unique accents you have in Britain or British Isles, or whatever.
I think I'm being an idiot though.
Maybe that is what you call England's 'accent'. I don't believe we have an accent, but then again if you compared an English person to an American, you would see the difference.
I'm probably wrong though...like always.
