10: Your Little Brother Never Tells You But He Loves You So

Josh didn't wait for Tyler to walk to school with him. He didn't talk to him in class or sat next to him at lunch. The boys would just glance at each other when they crossed each other's paths.

The beatings came everyday, a few slaps, punches, and kicks. Josh stopped talking to almost everyone when Tyler stopped responding to his texts. He still went to the treehouse hoping Tyler wouldn't come but at the same time longing he would show up.

Tyler showed up in the treehouse and out of nowhere Josh had a lot of rage and started asking Tyler about his disappearance before he got up and ran off. "Why did I yell at him?  Surely he didn't have the flu but where did he go? And why won't he tell me?" He thought.

Josh's thoughts were soon pushed away when he heard the yelling and stumbling of his drunk father. Josh leapt off of his bed to lock the door he was safe for the night. 

Tyjo: Josh?! Please talk to me! Treehouse?

Josh found himself in the treehouse crying when he received the text from Tyler, he thought about leaving before Tyler got there but his body stayed. As soon as Tyler said his name he got up and ran, but he didn't know why. Was he afraid of Tyler?

"Josh! Come back!" Tyler yelled into the woods, he slowly crept out from behind a tree. Tyler and Josh day under their safe place talking.

"I have to tell you something,I-I was at the psychiatric ward, I'm sorry I lied." Tyler said his voice was barely audible and shaking. Josh just nodded, he felt numb and worthless. Like he failed being there for his best friend.

*Time Skip*
Josh and Tyler started talking again but Josh still hadn't told Tyler about his father.

*Mini Flashback*
Tyler was crying because of Blurryface so Josh pulled him into his lap, Tyler wrapped his arms around Josh's rib cage. Josh tensed as pain surged through his ribs, his dad threw a few powerful kicks leaving them pretty bruised, Josh hoped Tyler wouldn't notice but of course he did.
"Josh? What happened?" Tyler asked lifting up Josh's shirt to reveal a few purple and blue marks on his skin. Josh's mind raced as he thought of something to tell Tyler.
"I-I uh fell down the stairs, I wasn't paying attention." Josh chuckled hoping he sounded convincing enough. Tyler just nodded and went back to carefully embracing his clumsy friend.
*End Mini Flashback*

Tyler was greeted by a bleeding Josh, he carefully helped his injured friend into his room and cleaned him up.
Tyler asked Josh multiple questions about his pain and all that while he cleaned the blood off of Josh's split eyebrow.
"Does it hurt to inhale?"

"Yes Tyler, everything hurts, especially my wrist."

Tyler quickly moved his attention to Josh's wrist which was definitely broken, it was already very swollen and Josh said he couldn't move it or his fingers. Tyler loosely wrapped Josh's wrist and guided him to his bed after tucking him in.
Tyler curled up on a bean bag on the ground, while his friend slept peacefully.  In the morning Tyler explained to his mother that his friend is pretty hurt and that he is going to help him out for a few days, she just nodded and went to work.

When Josh woke up, Tyler asked him what happened hoping for an actual answer, but he expected Josh would tell him he "fell".
"My dad is a drunk-k and he hits me." Josh stuttered he was full on sobbing now.  Tyler handed Josh two blue painkillers and some water, after that Josh was guided to Tyler's car.

*At The Hospital*
"What happened Mr. Dun?" Doctor Smith asked Josh. Tyler was about to speak when Josh cut him off explaining to the doctor he had fallen down the stairs. The doctor examined Josh and took him for x-rays.  Josh had a few cracked ribs, a broken wrist, and a mild concussion. His wrist was put in a bright red cast and he was given pain medication for his injuries. But before he left the doctor asked Tyler to leave the room.

"Josh we found a few previous breaks that healed on their own, are you a victim of abuse?" The doctor asked trying to sound concerned. Josh replied explaining that he is just very clumsy, he didn't care if the doctor believed him or not. 
The ride back to Tyler's was silent, Tyler finally spoke up and told Josh he didn't want him to go home where it wasn't safe. But he told Tyler he wasn't able to move out yet and his dad would look for him which would cause more issues in the long run. Josh got out of Tyler's car and went inside to his house only to find his father sitting in the living room. He looked up at his son and begun to laugh, he especially eyed in on his wrist.
