Three Months Later...
"Blaahhh" The sounds of Victoria emptying her stomach's contents for the third time that day echoed throughout the mall's bathroom.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" Victoria said aloud to herself as she went to the sink and washed her face.
Popping two tic-tacs in her mouth, she walked back to her signing table. She was signing a copy of her novel "This Can't Be Life" for a female reader when a raspy voice distracted her.
"I know you didn't come to my neck of the woods and didn't drop a line?"
Victoria looked up and was at loss for words. Standing there looking finer than ever was none other than Mr. Vincent Acosta, himself.
"Oh, my god! You're Vincent Acosta! I love your books," the female shrieked. "I just brought your book today! Would you mind signing it for me?" she excitedly retrieved a copy of his new novel "Twisted Deceit" from her bag.
"Sure! Anything for one of my supporters." He responded, pulling a pen out from his button down shirt pocket.
After she left, Victoria had finally recovered from the shock of seeing him there.
"Wow! What's up Vincent? I haven't heard from you in a minute. How did you know I was in town?"
"Come on now, did you really think I wouldn't see the advertisements from TLJ all over of Facebook. I was surprised that you hadn't called and told me yourself." he scolded.
"A lot has been happening since I saw you last. I just thought it be best if I didn't hit you up anymore until I figured things out."
"I understand. Well, I couldn't let you do a signing in my hometown without coming to get an autographed copy and showing you some love."
"I appreciate the support," she smiled as he handed her a book.
"So, what time is the signing over? Do you have plans? I'd love to grab a bite to eat, I know you're starving. I know I would be, after sitting here for all these hours"
"I think it's over at three, which is in about another twenty minutes." She looked at her watch.
"Ok, cool. I'll be over there in the sneaker store when you're ready." he walked across to the sneaker store.
Thirty minutes later, they walked over to the food court and ordered from Buffalo Wild Wings; she had a strong craving for some extra hot wings and ranch dressing.
"So, what's up? How have you been? What's been going on with you?" he asked as he dipped one of his boneless wings into a container of honey barbecue sauce. The smell of the sauce was nauseating but she ignored it.
"Ah, nothing much. I did a few signings, a couple of radio and magazine interviews. You know the norm. What about you? How's the new book doing?"
"It's doing really well, actually. Definitely on its way to becoming another bestseller," he retorted, with his signature grin.
"I know that's right! I am very excited and happy for you." she responded with a warm smile.
"Thank you. How are things on the home front? Get that divorce yet?" he joked.
"No, not yet. We are actually trying to work things out." She replied quickly and stuffed a whole wing in her mouth.
"Oh, yeah? That's what's up! I had a feeling that was the reason you stopped calling little ole me. Got what you wanted and tossed me aside like yesterday's newspaper. Now, he getting that good pussy and I am left in the cold." he laughed.
