You were the sunshine,

Always shining so bright;

I looked up to you,

For you seemed to be everyone's light!

I used to see,

You, being so kind;

I often wondered,

"Why can't I be just as compassionate and kind?"

You offered help.

Not unwillingly;

And that made me think,

You really are

Who you showcased to be!

I am the type,

Who's always been taught,

"Whatever you are able to do,

Why tell others to do for you?"

Gradually the inevitable happened,

Differences crept up into our friendship,

Because poles apart, were our beliefs;

The you, who thought about yourself the most,

Finally showed yourself to me;

I started to notice things like:

The hidden agendas behind your actions,

Actions which I mistook before,

for something pure as being compassionate;

But the most important change noticed by me,

Was how fake you appeared to be,

When you seemed so true previously!

But still I called you my friend;

And all your fakeness I managed to ignore,

But not everything can be forgotten, right?

Like you crushing my self esteem, maybe?

Do you remember anything? I guess not,

Self-indulgence,

Is what cost you a close friend that day;

And the avoidance started,

I am sure you noticed why wouldn't you?

It was how YOU were being treated,

And not the other way round;

You apologized;

Five letters. Easy, isn't it? No.

I don't think so.

Can time be reversed? Do tell me,

I will forgive you but can you be honest,

With those around you?

Because one thing that I despise,

Is how people change colours constantly;

If you are kind, be kind to all;

And not when it's convenient to be;

If you are kind, be considerate;

Don't you care about feelings?

Of those other than you ofcourse.

Can you promise that?

The real question is,

Will you go through with the promise,

you made with me?
