Petra Kvitova is a Czech lefty who's recent slump saw her fall down to 15th in the world. Having turned pro in 2006, her groundstrokes became well-known on the WTA. She has won 17 titles in her career, including 2 Wimbledon titles and a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics.

She reached her highest ranking of 2nd in the world in 2011, using her power to get there. She is the second-highest ranked Czech on tour, and is the third highest ranked lefty as well.

She first granted attention by upsetting then world number 1 Dinara Safina in 2009 at the US Open. She followed that up by reaching the 2010 Wimbledon semifinal, losing to eventual champion Serena Williams. She came back the next year, winning the 2011 Wimbledon.

The breakthrough continued when she won the 2011 WTA Finals, marking her as one of three to win it upon her debut appearance. Also, she helped the Czech Republic begin their dominance of Fed Cup.

She made back-to-back slam semifinals in Australia and France. She won the Hopman Cup alongside Tomas Berdych before Australia, setting up an astounding season. She went a little while on a Slam drought, but finally ended it with a victory over Eugenie Bouchard at the 2014 Wimbledon Championship.

Petra has struggled all year this year. Most recently, she was crushed 1-6, 1-6 at a tournament where she was twice a defending champion. It has yet to be seen if she'll return to the top 10, or grand slam glory for that matter. But, she has been playing better since winning the bronze medal at Rio. So a comeback is very possible.
