Eugenie Bouchard is Canadian tennis star currently residing and training in
Miami Beach, Florida. She was born February 25, 1994, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At 5"10, Genie plays a powerful game with her right-handed two-handed backhand and left-handed forehand. She was a former top 5 player, but has since then slipped to 40th in the rankings.

Bouchard first debuted on tour in 2009, defeating Frederica Grazioso in Caserta, Italy. She followed that up by winning the Pan American Closed ITF Championships.

Bouchard made her first junior slam semifinal in Australia in 2011, losing to Monica Puig. She claimed her first pro title at the 25,000 ITF event in Burnie, taking out fellow youngster Saisai Zheng. Her second pro ITF title came in Sibenik, defeating Jessica Ginier in the Croatian city.

She was forced to miss the French Open with an injury. She made the juniors quarterfinals at Wimbledon, eventually losing to (3) Irina Khromacheva. However, she and Grace Min went on to win the doubles final.

She then went to the Citi Open in the US capital, where she registered her first WTA tour match win over Alison Riske. She then faced 2nd seed Nadia Petrova, but lost.

After the previous year's run to the semifinal, Bouchard made a repeat in Australia, losing to Yulia Putintseva. After winning a few more ITF titles before Wimbledon, Genie had her first taste of slam glory. She won the 2012 Girls Wimbledon Championship, defeating now top-twenty player Elina Svitolina.

This marked her as the first Canadian ( until Shapovalov's boys title run this year ) male or female to win a slam title. She continued her form as she claimed her second straight doubles title there, this time with Taylor Townsend over Belinda Bencic and Ana Konjuh.

Genie, after claiming her 5th ITF title in Granby, made her first WTA quarterfinal at the Citi Open. She defeated her highest seeded player, then 11th seeded Shahar Peer, before losing to Li Na in the next round.

The quarterfinal in Charleston assured her a top 100 ranking, after stunning Samantha Stosur. At Wimbledon, Genie secured another gigantic victory over former world number 1 Ana Ivanovic in the second round. At the start of August, Genie made her first WTA final with pattern Taylor Townsend in Washington D.C., losing to Shuko Aoyama and Vera Dushevina in that final.

An extremely successful run to the Australian Open semifinals ( defeated Ana Ivanovic en route ). It sealed her first appearance inside the top 20. Genie finally broke through in in the case of WTA title hopes, winning the Nurnberger title on clay. She beat Karolina Pliskova in the final.

She then made yet another Slam semifinal, defeating Kerber and Suarez-Navarro but lost to eventual champion Maria Sharapova in the semis. Bouchard stunned the tennis world with her run to the Wimbledon final, losing to Petra Kvitova in easy sets.

The rest of the season was marred by injuries, but she managed to reach her first Premier 5 final in Wuhan, losing to Petra Kvitova in a rematch.
She qualified for Singapore, but ended up losing out early. Her 2014 season was capped off by being named the WTA's Most Improved Player.

2015 was a horrendous year for Bouchard, seeing her make one quarterfinal at Melbourne. She had not lived up to expectations, and we saw as she she fell from the top 10 all the way down outside the top 50. But, with more mental training and consistency, I believe that she can make it back to the upper tier of the WTA.
