Thank the good Lord for letting the plane work! I was still terrified the entire time, especially when we hit air turbulence. I'm also pretty sure that Bucky would purposely hit the air turbulence just for the fun of it...and cause I would physically cringe. Now, it's not because I am scared of heights! It's because I was in a very old plane and feared that it would give out in the middle of the sky! We were literally in the air for about 15 hours before Bucky finally landed the death trap. Since then we've been walking nonstop for a couple of days. Where ever we were, it was a bit colder than it was back in the States; must've moved further up north.
"So, where exactly are we," I asked, looking over at Bucky as I followed beside him.
"Northwest coast line in the United Kingdom," he answered.
"You flew that death trap....this far?" Bucky merely smiled a me, chuckling a bit at my reaction. Can you blame me?!
"But did you die," he asked.
I gave him a fake glare, "Alright, Barnes, you're a lot more sassy than I thought you'd be."
"And you're a lot more talkative," he countered, giving me a mischievous smile. I rolled my eyes at him jokingly, a smile taking over my lips.
"You love it," I laughed.
"I do." I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. The butterflies returned as his response ran through my mind of repeat.
"So, we obviously need to hit up a town and get some supplies," I stated, changing the topic more so I could get my mind of what just happened.
"There's a town a few miles ahead. By the time we get there it'll be dark enough for us to get our things," he said, "maybe hijack an old car that no one misses.
"I'm sure there's an old pick-up truck lying in some drunk guys yard," I said. We continued walking, making small talk along the way but mainly staying quiet. As the sun went down, we found ourselves approaching a small town. We both waited it out until we noticed the shops closing and lights turning off...and we still waited a bit more. Only when the moon was high up the sky, we made our move. We walked through the empty streets, eyeing different stores for certain goods that we needed. First stop: clothes. I made my way over to the back to what looked to be a thrift shop, looking for a way to cut the alarm, or the power all together. My eyes landed on a box that connected to the back of the building.
"Jack pot,' I muttered, opening the box and getting to work. After cutting a certain cord, the subtle, electrical hum of the building died. I walked over, peering around the corner to find no one there.
"Bucky," I called, trying not to be too loud, "Bucky Barnes." I sighed, turning around only to be welcomed with a heart attack.
"Would you stop sneaking up on me in these situations,' I whispered and yelled at the same time.
He just grinned, "I'm guessing you took care of the power?"
"Yup," I answered, "So get us in." Bucky walked over to the back door, gripping the handle with his metal hand and popping the door open. He opened it, motioning for me to step in. I walked over, giving him a smile.
"What a gentleman," I told him, walking into the building. Bucky followed, keeping close behind me as we walked out to the main room that held multiple racks of clothing. We both separated, going through the various racks of clothes to find things that fit us, keeping in mind of the change in weather. After I collected a few long sleeve shirts and jeans, I made my way to the changing room to make sure they fit.
