“Cole I’m so sorry this had to happen,” The sheriff said as he put his hand on Cole’s shoulder.
“It was going to happen sooner or later,” He whispered. “Come on Lily let’s go home. Thank you for the dinner sheriff.” He grabbed his sister’s hand and walked outside to his truck.
“Wait a minute Cole! You can’t stay by yourself tonight.” Stiles chased after him.
“I’ve been home by myself before. My mom has decided to not come back home loads of times,” Cole said buckling his sister into the car.
“Stop acting like you don’t care! Your mom has just been arrested! What are you going to tell your sister? You’re on your own now,” Stiles raised his voice as he shut the door so Lily wouldn’t hear.
“Maybe this is for the better Stiles!” Cole shouted.
“Now just wait!” Stiles shouted but then he was cut off by a bunch of guys shouting that sounded like it was getting closer.
“There he is!” Shouted one boy and Cole knew exactly who they were.
“Shit! Can you watch Lily for me?” Cole asked and then bolted around the corner as the guys chased him.
“Get back here faggot!” Another boy shouted. Cole kept running without looking back. He still wasn’t fully recovered from his last beating and he didn’t want Stiles or Lily to see what was going to happen. “Stop running you stupid fag!” the same boy shouted. Cole hadn’t gotten very far, he was probably just around the corner when he heard a strange noise from behind him but he didn’t turn. “Kill him!”
“I’m trying!” One of the boys shouted. Cole turned around to see a gun being pointed at him. When he heard a bang he swerved to the side and watched a bullet whiz by his head.
“What’s wrong with you?” Cole shouted. These guys have always hated him because he is gay but they couldn’t possibly want to kill him because of that. Could they? He stopped thinking and just kept running. He made a sharp turn and saw a row of backyards to houses. He got ready to jump over one of the fences. He quickly climbed the tall fence and heard a loud bang. Before he had a chance to react the bullet made contact with his arm just underneath his elbow as he fell into the yard. “Oh my God, someone help me!” Cole shouted at the top of his lungs. He watched the blood spill down his arm as he banged on the glass door. “Help! Please help me!” Cole shouted and continued to bang on the door. The light turned on and he looked down to see a pool of blood around his right shoe. His arm was painted red with his blood. The pain throbbed throughout his entire arm. He grabbed his arm to try and stop the blood. A familiar face walked up to the door. It was Allison. She looked into Cole’s eyes and realized how much pain he was in and looked down and gasped to see his blood covered arm.
“Cole!” Allison shouted as she opened the door and grabbed Cole’s arm. “Dad, can you come down here right now? Bring your stitching kit!” Allison’s father quickly ran down the stairs with a basket in his hand. Allison had spread Cole’s arm out across the counter. Her father grabbed a pair of sharp tongs and without saying a word, shoved them into Cole’s arm. Cole screamed as Mr. Argent felt around for the bullet. When he found it he swiftly pulled it out and Cole let out another scream. He quickly sanitized a sewing needle and sewed together the hole in his arm.
“Wrap this up Allison,” Her father ordered as he went to put the basket of materials. She grabbed a piece of gauze and placed it careful on the wound. She then grabbed the medical tape and tried to tape it as softly as possible. Cole winced every time as the tape went around.
“Sorry, I know this hurts,” She said as she wrapped the second later.
“No, it’s fine. Thank you,” Cole replied as she finished. “Did Scott talk to you about his mom yet?” he asked as Allison cleaned the blood off of his arm.
“Yeah,” She said scrubbing at Cole’s arm. He bit his tongue so he wouldn’t yelp in pain.
“So are you going to help?” Cole asked and Allison stopped what she was doing and looked up at him.
“Obviously,” She replied. “Don’t worry about weapons I have some for you,” She laughed and continued cleaning his arm.
“Like I was worried,” Cole laughed as his phone rang. He looked at it to see who was calling. “It’s Stiles,” He informed Allison.
“Wait you ran all the way from his house?” Allison asked in shock.
“It didn’t seem that far when I was running,” Cole laughed and picked up the phone. “Hello?”
“What the hell happened?” Stiles shouted through the phone.
“Those guys have been out to get me since we were kids,” Cole replied.
“Well are you okay?” Stiles asked.
“Nothing happened. Got out without a scratch,” Cole said and Allison gave him a look.
“Good, I think you should stay here tonight,” Stiles suggested.
“If Lily wants to then we will. I’m on my way back now so I’ll be right there,” Cole said and hung up the phone.
“Without a scratch?” Allison crossed her arms.
“I don’t need anyone worrying; this can be our secret,” Cole said jumping down from the counter.
“So son, want to tell me what happened?” Mr. Argent asked coming from nowhere.
“I live in not a very nice area and there are a few guys that live around the corner that don’t really like me too much. They would always beat me up when I used to live here and when I came back they didn’t forget. They jumped me the other day but Ethan came and stopped it,” Cole started to explain.
“Ethan the werewolf?” Mr. Argent asked.
“Yeah, so when they came today I didn’t want to get beat up again. I also didn’t want my sister or Stiles to see what was going to happen,” Cole continued.
“You’re a family man kid. What’s your name?” Mr. Argent asked.
“I’m Cole,” He smiled.
“I’m Chris,” He smiled back. “Would you like a ride back to the Stilinski’s?”
“If it’s not too much trouble,” Cole replied and Chris nodded then he and Allison led him to the car. Cole looked across the street and saw one of the guys that tried to kill him. “One of them is right there,” Cole whispered.
“Okay, get in the back we’ll move quickly.” Chris ordered. As Cole was getting into the car Allison bumped into his arm and he let out a loud yelp.
“Guys I found him!” The boy across the street shouted.
“Drive dad! Drive!” Allison shouted and Chris sped out of the driveway down the street as Cole saw all the boys get together and chase after the car and then they lost them.
