Jess and I stared at each other for a long time. Then my phone rang.
"Hey?" I heard shuffling in the other end.
"Kiley?"
"Yeah, who's this?"
"It's Jarrett!" Me and him haven't talked for years, why was he calling me?
"Hey, what's up?"
"Well, turns out, I'm dying." Jesus, he was always so happy.
"Oh, wow."
"Yeah, but me and Chloe got married so it's all good. How's your life?"
"Well," I looked over at Jess, "it's pretty good, me and Jess are dating." Her mouth formed an 'o' and she smiled.
"Holy shit! Kess is real!"
"So is Clarrett." I pointed out.
"I'm gonna go, bye Kiley."
"Bye Jarrett!" He hung up and I looked over at Jess again.
"Dating huh?"
"Why not?" I hugged her and ran off to the water.
