The following Friday Josie, Melanie and Brian headed out. Josie took her rental car because Brian thought he might have to cut the trip short if his uncle needed him.
They arrived at the hotel and got settled in. That night Robert took them to a club called The Villa, in West Warwick.
The four of them were sitting at the table, Brian stood up.
"I am going to get another round, does everyone want the same?" he asked and everyone nodded in agreement.
Just as Brian walked away Melanie stood up "I am going to the ladies room." And she walked away
After a few moments of awkward silence the band began to play..........
'There's a story in my eyes...turn the pages of desire....now it's time to trade those dreams...for the rush of passion's fire....."
Robert looked at Josie "I love this song, would you like to dance?"
To her relief Brian returned with the drinks "Actually I was going to ask Brian if he wanted to dance with me" She looked at Brian "How about it?" She asked him praying he said yes.
"Oh no I am sitting the next few out. Go ahead and dance with Robert. He said as he sat down and distributed the drinks. She looked at Robert who now looked uncomfortably back at her.
Robert knew why she didn't want to dance with him and she knew it too. They both wanted to be in each other's arms so badly that dancing was dangerous right now. But they couldn't explain that to Brian.
Robert took Josie's hand and walked her to the dance floor. They started to dance. Usually when two people who have never danced together dance, it can be awkward, but it was like Robert and Josie had been doing it forever. For two people who had never met until two weeks ago, they both found that they were in sync in so many ways.
The song ended and Josie turned to leave the dance floor just as another slow song started. Robert grabbed her arm in an unspoken request. She looked towards the table and saw that Brian and Melanie were chatting away and laughing. She knew she shouldn't do it but her desire to feel Robert's arms around her again, to be so close that they could feel the heat of each other overwhelmed her. She turned back to Robert and let him engulf her in his arms.
With her eyes closed she let him guide her around the dance floor. At one point she opened her eyes, he was looking down at her. His moist hazel eyes sparkled with a look of someone who held nothing but passion for the person he was looking at. She so wanted to kiss him and she could see in his eyes that he wanted it too. She looked toward the table and saw that Melanie had left it and that Brian was sitting there alone looking around.
She looked at Robert and without words told him no. He maneuvered them to a corner of the dance floor that was out of sight of the table. He looked down at her again and began to lean in but she shook her head no, once again rebuffing his chance for a kiss and he understood. He loved her but he respected her more. He stared at her and noticed a tear running down her cheek. He wiped it away with his thumb and touched it to his lips. He looked away for a moment. Josie couldn't take it anymore. She reached up and turned his face toward hers. She pulled him to her and their lips met.
They kissed; each could feel the other trembling with passion and desire and when they finally finished they were out of breath. They looked around, the music had stopped and the band was walking off stage to take a break. As the band passed them the drummer walked by and gave Robert the thumbs up, the female lead singer stopped and looked at Robert and then at Josie.
"WOW! That was really hot guys. I almost expected to see your clothes come off right here. You two stay at it. I think you have a future together." She smiled at them and then walked away
