Say I support cop killers
Because I support the Black Bloc?
You support a system that protects killer cops.
We don't blame Jael for violently killing,
The Canaanite King that held her people hostage.
No, we sanctify violence and canonize killers,
While feeding our children foods filled with artificial fillers.
Seasoned with hypocrisy; society, rests ill at ease.
Families mourn on battered knees,
Beneath the strange fruit
Of the new Jim Crow's lynching tree.
In the street, turn the Fanon to—
Escape blazing '67 heat that sweeps the streets,
Insulated, single vision, completely detached,
Privilege asks, "What are they rioting for?"
Post-Colonial passive aggression
Expressed through pseudo-rational words,
Twisted, straight lines bent beyond,
Blur of DuBois double-vision veil
Into popular imagination.
A generation subjected to standardized testing:
The sequel to separate but equal
I don't mourn broken windows,
I mourn broken necks.
Want to be treated like heroes,
Treat the people with respect.
